Lifetime average at 2,800 miles just hit 16.0. Applause all-round.

The trip taking delivery from the dealership to my house (about 20 miles) was almost 6. So we're really making progress here.

Hey Guys. New to the forum, picked up my new GT a week ago! Lovin it so far. Just curious if this normal for mpg?
I shift around 2500 rpms for mostly street and little bit of hwy driving. Seems really low to me, when I reset the trip meter after fill up it says 208 to E.... I figure 16 mpg with 16 gal tank I should at least get 256 miles. What mpg are you guys getting?

I'm driving from Maryland to Indiana at the end of the month -- I'll post updates -- it should significantly boost my average -- but then again, with all those country roads, and then flat parts in the upper 3/4 of the state, I might get carried away ;). I put cruise on at 59 in 55's, and 65 in 65's when possible -- I keep my ego out of it and let everyone pass until I get boxed in and can't keep my cruise. At that point, I drop a gear or two, mash the pedal, shoot up to X and pass everyone. If you have the discipline to stay in cruise and let people pass, the highway mileage is pretty awesome -- even with the GT PP.

Depending on the temperature, staying under 60 is key, as it's a tipping point for optimal mileage -- parasitic drag builds exponentially above that. This applies to a 59 degree "standard" temperature -- higher temps move the tipping point up, but not by a whole lot.
So I put about 1500 or so miles on the car, and am sitting at over 4000, having been bombing around town for a week or so.

I averaged about 22mpg for my trip -- that was mostly disciplined, cruise-controlled, at-the-posted-limit-or-with-the-flow highway, with some bad traffic around Cincinnati, a few triple-digit blasts on desolate, un-trafficked portions of I70, between cornfields in southern Indiana, and spirited driving on two-lanes in the foothills. On the way out, my trunk was loaded to the brim with boxes of brass HO locomotives, and my 10yo daughter rode comfortably in the back seat -- I was seldom lightly loaded. Now that I'm back home, and doing less highway, I'm above 19 all-time and falling...

With about 2600 miles on the car, I took my first long trip with it today. Trip showed 22.5mpg, hand calculated 21mpg. That's all highway at 80mph except a bunch of speed trap towns. GT PP 6MT. Based on experience with other cars, I should get a hand calculated 23-24mpg on the way back.

Outside of this, I've been getting about 14mpg running around town.

V6 was designed to run on 87. Eco and the GT make more power, are more efficient with 93. Only reason to run 93 in a V6 is if you are tuned for it.

Got 25 mpg on a Omaha to Lake Tahoe and back trip. Drove 5 over the limit most of the time, but Utah/Nevada are good places to go fast once in a while.

Am I correct in assuming that it's possible for the 3.73 gear PP cars to get better in town MPG because they can get up to speed with more ease, but are lower on the highway? Or just lower all-around?
Been looking at different #s and still can't reach a conclusion.

GT with 3.15 gears and automatic is averaging 17.4mpg per the log book. This is with 35-40% miles being "spirited" driving. :)
