I haven’t been active here - I thought I’d share my post accident stuff here. Apparently the standard, non-premium bumper cover has been superseded by the premium one. I’m not mad about that. I got hit on August 30th, and I’m likely to finally get my car back next week.

What in the sam hell took that long? It had better be better than new when you get it back. 3+ months is a hell of a long time to get a car fixed.

Well, the wait should make getting it back that much sweeter!!

Looking good

And the white "pigeon shit" is from wet sanding...it washes off before the final buffdown

@NoVaGT That was a confluence of things: the tow yard wanted a pint of blood to authorize my insurance company to take the car to their facility for the initial evaluation, and then it took a while for me to pick the shop, and for the insurance company to get it to them -- I decided to have them send it to the shop connected to the Ford dealer I bought the car from -- this all probably added a couple of weeks to the process -- that, and I didn't want to rush the job at all -- I wanted it done absolutely right -- and it looks like the new paint may be better than the factory paint, which means I may need to do some additional polishing to even things out on the drivers side. They ended up respraying the entire passenger side, and trunk -- I'm not sure how much of the roof - but there were some small issues that are now gone as a result -- plus I now have a "premium" rear bumper, which I'm kind of ambivalent about - but it looks good. There are still a few cosmetic issues with the front of the car I'd like to get addressed, but they aren't related to the accident. The car is with the detail people today -- hopefully I'll get it tomorrow.

Wow , hope u got diminished value money
I hope to -- my back isn't right yet, so I haven't settled or signed anything with the other insurance company -- and they haven't made any offers. I may have to lawyer up for this one. I do feel I'm owed something for the experience -- but I just want my back and car right again.

They taped the trim instead of removing it? That's the wrong way to do it properly. I just had my fenders swapped for the GT350 style ones. The body shop removed all the door trim and the door handles 1st. Blending paint into the doors was the proper way to repaint. Taping is a lazy and inferior way to do it from what I was told. The shop even needed to remove my windows just to get the door handle trim off without breaking abything.

I'm pretty sure that was just for the cutting/polishing/wet-sanding piece of it -- you can see everything removed while the new rear quarter is getting welded in.

It does look that way now that I looked more carefully at it. That's some substantial damage, huh? How much was the rebuild? I'm kinda surprised it wasn't totalled out. It will be like new when finished. I guess the frame wasn't tweaked.

I'll find out soon -- I hope the frame is straight -- I'd still like to lower the car at some point. I think the total was somewhere around $13k, and Maryland is a "75% state", with the car being valued at around $27k, it will have to go closer to $20k in damage before being totaled. I think the shop replaced the axleback and damaged wheel -- both aftermarket - so kudos to them for that.

How does one sustain bodily injury in a minor crash? Never mind....

Man that is the wrong perspective to begin with...nevermind

ol bit of the passive aggressive there?

You can hit your head on the window, pillar or even bump into the other person. Perhaps the person now has PTSD as most people do after a crash and are reluctant to get back on the road for fear of another accident...many, many ways to be affected other than just physical. The mind is part of the body correct?
