I have to agree with you there, being offered a V8 with manual gearbox is very rare nowadays as most things are auto box as standard
And yet over 50% of UK Musrangs are manuals. I do wonder why so few offer the choice. I would not have ordered a Mustang without a V8 nor with an auto box ( not that I have any issue with anyone who made a different choice.

Think it's all down to saving money by the manufacturer, the less option you give the customer the quicker it is to build and the less things you have to make and stock

Fancy autos these days are also more efficient and quicker than their manual counterparts. I suppose most people in the market for a big displacement motor would go for the tech. Also would be slightly better on emissions. Even the 'stang's traditional torque converter auto achieves slightly better economy.

...also when you've crawled round the M25 for 90mins or more a few times a manual loses its appeal.

In all honesty, that was my reason for opting for the auto. Manual would be great on the open road, but it can take me an hour to travel 2 miles on my commute home!

And then more on insurance, and more on road tax, and more to buy...

I'd tallied them down to
EB less BHP less noise, GT more BHP more noise cost way more.
Kinda looked it and said, 300+ BHP on the EB is more than enough, sound isn't too bad, and it's cost (for a 21 year old) is way more managable for a daily driver. So settled on that, for the reasons it was, sense prevailed over sound, and investing 1k in an exhaust to beef up the EB is cheaper than the overall price of the GT, wont get the same horsies, but still, powers there!
How much are you paying for insurance at 21?

Really, with who ?
Admiral, i think. Did it a few months back as a preperation so I could cost myself in for it.

EB, 3500-4000 miles. 1-2yrs NCB, 3yrs driving, 2 additional drivers (that will not be driving the car), 1 crash, CCTV'd home, Gated estate, Low crime neighborhood etc. Most quotes were 700-1k.
Im high 800s on my own by the way. It's all down to the lower mileage, where it's left overnight/during the day and my location (Gated estate) I think.

GT is about 3k.

Checked yesterday - £158 from Direct Line but couldn't add mods in online. Muskrats saw the quotes go up from £168 to over £500 with zorst, spacers, springs, tint, stripes and steering wheel.

Need to try Flux and A-Plan.

Did you add your modifications? Your doing a lot to it that will bump that up
No I didn't, once my car is designated a boat, i'll be doing my ring arounds, I have to do quotes, then I have to call up the cheapest insurer, tell them that quote, tell them that i'm on a gated private estate, that i've got cctv on the house etc etc and then it brings the price down, I never discussed the Mods, just the wrap.
