I know, but I already put xpel on the car and I'd rather not remove it all just because of the gloss stripes. I also considered removing the stripes completely.Just get some xpel stealth over them. You get a matte finish and no more swirls!
There were also "A" code mustangs for 65 through 68 and maybe a bit farther. A was for a 289 4BBL carb.R stripes look good. R aero looks good. R badges look good. As long as you don't tell people it's an R, who cares?
I'm reminded of a car show I went to ~20 years ago. Some older guy had a 65 or 66 Mustang Fastback. He had a placard in front of the car that said it was a K code. Excited, I walked over and looked at the VIN on the fender apron; it was clear that a 'K' had been stamped over the 5th digit (not sure if it was a C or a T). I said something akin to, "Uhhhhh what's with the VIN?" and the guy lost his shit claiming I didn't know anything about Mustangs...
Screw that guy.
A Code was 65 through 67 only. The 68 small block 4 bbl was a J Code.There were also "A" code mustangs for 65 through 68 and maybe a bit farther. A was for a 289 4BBL carb.
I've been thinking the same thing till I watched a utube video of a guy doing it on his Porsche. Took something like 10 coats to get solid coverage.Do it so someone could start a poll on it!![]()
If you're not going to tell them that it isn't an R, why the pretense?R stripes look good. R aero looks good. R badges look good. As long as you don't tell people it's an R, who cares?
I agree, the average person couldn't tell the difference between an ecoboost, GT or GT350, and even the average enthusiasts don't know whats different between the GT350 and the R. I get asked all the time if my car is an R and i don't have any R aesthetic items.Interesting side-note: At a cars and coffee recently. Someone commented on how they loved the new GT350s and after a short while said, "Oh, is this an R?".
Not as many people know what is what as we might think.
The factory R rear wing is also carbon fiberThe only thing CF on the factory R is the rims (and i guess that radiator bracket is a CF composite but the regular 350 has that too), the aero CF bits on this car are just the Carbon2Carbon aftermarket pieces i'm guessing.
Those aren't the factory CF wheels.

As others have mentioned, the parts are visible carbon, so aftermarket pieces basically, and the wheels are 6GR R-Spec replica wheels.... you can tell by the lugs that are sunk into wheel hub, whereas the true R wheels the entire lug nut is visible.Do you think that the wrong seats were installed in that R at the factory? I mean to me, it looks like it ticks all of the other boxes. Wheels, red calipers, spoiler...etc, etc... Someone spent a lot of cash to make that look like an R.
Personally, use the parts, but keep it a GT if it is a GT and a regular GT350 if that is what it is and it isn't an R. Customizing is awesome, but I don't get the rebadging something as what it is not. I love the look of the GT350 badge, so I bought the coyote version.
Wow i didn't realize that. Learn something new every day!The factory R rear wing is also carbon fiber
