My kids are only 8 and 10. I plan on keeping my 2015 GT a long long time and that will be the car they learn to drive on, a manual.

I was once 16 and I HATED DRIVING A MANUAL. I felt it was a hassle. I then owned 2 cars in a row that were manual and drove those for 10+ years. I haven't had a manual car in close to 10 years and I deeply miss it.

I agree with s550. I grew up and learned on a Manual. After a while it becomes second nature. Been driving a AUTO for about 10 years as well and crave that manual shift at times. Going MANUAL without a doubt in the '15 5.0!

I like a Manual, but I have to drive on several very congested Freeways. A few years ago, I was 'trapped' on a stretch of bumper-to-bumper traffic-stop-and-go (bad accident up ahead). It took two hours versus normal ten minutes. I think I shifted several hundred times. My legs were killing me by the time I got out of there. Ran into a similar situation this last year but was driving an auto...just played some Jazz...I could walk when I got home. I also ordered ACC...I will see how that works out for me.

It guess it pretty much boils down to whether you use it for a DD and/or you are going to be driving it around a major city......hence stop and go traffic. I actually gave up on my 5 speed a decade or so ago when I drove around Toronto. Summertime construction and rush "crawl" hour traffic killed my left knee! I live considerably far from Toronto now and don't commute in city traffic. I love the manual and the fun of "banging" gears! For me, that is the sport part of driving a performance automobile and that is how I see my Mustang.

One isn't better than the other, Jesus. Lol people are trying waaaay to hard to justify why "their" choice the correct one. Ford makes both, who cares what the other guy is driving or why?

I chose manual because that's what I find enjoyable. As for the myth that the Mustang is too powerful to learn on...hogwash. I taught my timid-driving wife on my 400rwhp '11 GT. I'll get her some more seat time in the 15.

How do you know this?
2011-2014, the 6R80 woke up like Beyonce.....FLAWLESS.
The MT82...weeeelll not so flawless. It had some issues, some of which I experienced first hand in my late build 2012 5.0. Sticky / mushy pedal feel after a high rpms for one. I had the pedal stick to the floor making a pass down the 1/4! Not a fun experience, i tried changing out the trans fluid, brake fluid , clutch line , removed helper spring and added a MGW short throw to help aid the MT-82. They helped but did not resolve the issue. Mechanic said the clutch was the culprit. I was not about to blow more money on a transmission i knew was not going to be able to handle what i had planned for it.

Breaking point of the MT82 was about 580, some breaking at stock hp. *with stickies of course*
Factory 6R80 *queue Flawless music* was holding over 1000hp! shifting quicker and running more consistent than any MT-82 I have seen.

Sure not every one will take their car down the track to that extreme, but its a good feeling knowing your transmission is up for the challenge.

If you don't plan on using your 430+ hp stick with the MT-82. It was fun to daily, just not up to the task of the occasional 1/4mile pass.

Part of my thought was that the 6R80, being that strong, will likely survive in a daily driver like mine to the 150,000 or 200,000 miles that I have in mind. I know for sure I would be buying multiple clutches in that time and maybe a rebuilt MT-82.

compared to my 2013 SS I use to have, my 2015 Mustang GT is so easy to drive. The shifter is better and the clutch is so smooth in my GT also you can turn off Hill start Assist. Something that made me so mad in the SS.

Auto..At the light or at the tree is 9 times out of 10 going to win against a manual.. autos are more consistent and these new autos can shift way faster than a manual and the 6r80 is stout as hell an auto is generally not as fun as a manual HA (depending on the person) but with the addition of padal shifting so someone who opted for the auto can still feel like they are rowing gears from time to time is a plus with the addition of not losing boost between shifts if you add a charger is also nice I really wanted a manual but I looked at the facts when I purchased mine because I enjoy both and the boosted launches in my duramax never get old..which is an auto and I absolutely love it..it's all about buyers choice though idc what anyone says buy what you like to drive plain and simple

So it depends on how much you care about being faster than the guy next to you at a light as opposed to having fun accelerating.

Everyone's opinion is different get what you like I just don't see why there's so much hate on the auto I'm just the competitive type and always looking to go faster and really have just as much fun with both that's why imo chose the auto :D

I have owned numerous vehicles with a manual. I was stationed in Japan for 3 years and owned a Skyline which was very fun. Since then I have had a Mazda 6, 350Z, 370Z and WRX. Now all I want is an automatic. Take my man card if you want. The only thing that will get me back in a stick is if I can get ahold of a GT350.

I think my next car will be an automatic. Unless of course I decide to trade up to a GT350 ;)

My Skyline is an automatic and is still fun. With all the advantages of the 6R80, it has convinced me to try the auto.
