Just filled up with 93 octane and switched my tune from my E-85 race tune to my 93 octane tune for the winter. Upon start-up, I received the code P163F. I have flashed every tune on my tuner 3-4 times to try to fix the problem. My car will not shift out of 1st gear and I’m about 40 minutes from home. For some reason, I do not have the stock tune on my Ngauge.

Any ideas or help is appreciated!

I haven’t tried that yet. It honestly slipped my mind at the time. Unfortunately I didn’t have any tools in my car with me. I was able to make it home. The transmission would shift to 2nd and then when I would go down a hill it would shift to a very high gear - sounded like 9th or 10th. I just put my flashers on and stayed around 30 mph while in 2nd.

I submitted a ticket with Lund. I assume this is a tune related issue due to the issue arising immediately after flashing the 93 tune....?

I have never reset the KAM after switching to a different tune before and have not had an issue. Do you think failure to reset the KAM would result in the code / issue?

Sucks to hear you went through that!
I would not expect the code from not, but switching fuels I would think clearing out the memory could help.
I have used it after logging a batch of fuel causing knock for example to get the good fuel read and effective as soon as possible.
However this could be off basis, just hypothesizing off the top here.

When you switched from the 93 Lund tune to the E85 tune did you go to the factory tune in between? I went from a Lund 93 tune to a Lund E85/93 flex tune and my car ran like crap. I talked with Terry at Beefcake where I got the tune. He said to go to factory tune then to the E85. Engine ran perfectly after that.

I actually had one revision from AED with major transmission tweaks where this was a prerequisite before loading it so I can believe it.

I looked everywhere for it on my Ngauge and couldn’t find it. I know the factory tune for my 17 GT was on my Ngauge - I would always load my factory tune prior to loading a custom tune file. For some reason, the factory tune for my 18 GT is not on the Ngauge. Thanks for the advice though....I’m hoping the issue is something as simple as this.

I'm trying to remember where the factory tune is. If memory serves me correctly it is another file than the aftermarket tunes. Maybe someone else can chime in with that.

I can only speak on the SCT devices from personal experience but it has the option during programming prior to loading the next tune file to return to stock.

I switched from E85 to 93P tune last weekend for road trip. Zero issues and car ran great. Waiting to get down to less than 1/8 tank to switch back to straight corn. Yall with NGauges have more problems it seems.

Is this really a thing? Needing to flash back to stock before loading a new tune. I don't believe it because I can't think of a logical reason that this would do anything a KAM reset or loading a new tune wouldn't already overwrite.

Lund responded earlier today....
“All of your tunes are tuned for an auto car.
And these tunes are left over from July. You have not tried the 93 tune since then?
Is this the first time you had this happen? or the first time you flashed the 93 tune?
Why did you flash the 93 tune and not remain on flex so you can run either 93 octane full time, E85 full time or a mix of both full time?

The only time that happens is when you put a manual tune on a auto and ALL of your tunes are verified for auto.
I attached a flex tune with the code off and a bone stock tune
You might have to have the car reflashed back to stock with a ford ids to reprogram the trans. No idea how that happened since all of the files
We have for you are all auto files.
Try the flex tune with the code off and see how that goes.”

I will try to load the new tune this evening. Hopefully this fixes the issue. I will post the results. Thanks to everyone for the feedback and suggestions.

Did you ever get this solved? I'm having this same problem.

Same here any word?
I still havent got this sorted out, I've been in contact with VMP team and they are telling me to take it to ford to get the PCM reprogrammed.

I did take it to ford dealer however they claimed my PCM was shorted and were unable to program it. I then told that to the VMP team which them claimed it is impossible for it to be shorted so I think my dealer is just trying to scam me for an ECU replacement which would cost me over 1,000$...

Now my car has been in in the same state for over 2 weeks and and trying to get this sorted out with SCT team...
