Currently I have the Ford performance side pipes installed and have bad drone. They also touch this plastic piece on the car where it dips down (look at green arrow). I am considering notching this slightly so that the exhaust does not touch however I am not sure of the plastics function. Does anyone have any idea what it does?

That's your burp dam. It keeps the car from burping too loudly when it eats pedestrians.

In all seriousness that looks like some underbody aero to manage airflow under the car there. I suspect it might increase the fuel economy ever so slightly or something like that, considering all the pipes, and suspension that's downstream of it probably isn't great for airflow. I wouldn't hesitate to notch it or even remove it.

My idea was to completely remove it and test drive the car to see if there was reduced noise. If so I was going to notch it, if not i was going to put it back. Just wasnt sure if it was essential. Those bolts that it bolts to are around where the seats are but I wound not thing a piece of plastic like that would be safety related.

Protection for brake and fuel lines. I wouldn't take it off. But notching the place where the arrow is pointing shouldn't cause any issue.

Funny you asked, I actually had one cracked in half somehow and replaced it. May need to double check for an 18+ but might be the same. This is one side of it.

Lead me right to it, thanks part numbers for the 2015 are the same so it should be the same part:
- FR3Z-9B007-A
- FR3Z-9B007-B

Seems like my 2020 Bullitt is missing this passanger side "deflector" from factory.
Pictures I found on Google of 2020 underbody indicate that Ford has cut corners there...

Personally I’d be more worried about how to get my car off it’s side if I were you… 😳

Why not shim the side pipe so it does not touch? too easy?
