There's car guys with guns and gun guys with cars. I was a gun guy before a car guy. To answer the OP's original question the best place in a car to have a pistol or revolver is where you feel most comfortable with it. It's a personal decision and asking that question on an internet forum has lead to, well let's call a spade a spade ....this has turned into a shit show of opinions and answers. Probably the best thing for the OP to do is go to : https://www.youtube.com/@gowilsoncombat and get educated on being a responsible gun owner/carrier and the legalities of carrying a loaded firearm in an automobile in ones specific state. I'm assuming the OP knows an unloaded firearm is like having tits on a bull. Personally I carry OWB with a striker fire pistol, condition "0" with a 15 round magazine that I range practice with on a regular basis. Just my personal choice and one I feel most comfortable with. Again, carry where you feel most comfortable with your training and experience level you feel most responsible with yet best able to defend yourself in a bad situation.

I have a fragmentation grenade I brought back from Vietnam with no filler or fuse that I carry around my neck on a piece of rope. I've had zero problems so far.

I'm jealous you live in a civilized country, as it is with most of Europe, where 50% of the population doesn't base their self worth or cokk size on how many guns they own, or feel the need to carry a gun on their person.

I disagree. It might be sad if the thread was filled with stories of people being victims of carjackings, shootings, etc. Rather, many posters have said they haven't had to use their guns in a real-life situation.

IMO, the more responsible gun owners carrying and prepared to effectively use it if the situation calls for, the more it makes everyone safer and decreases the likelihood of crimes. I'm not into leaving guns in the car, though. That's the number one thing thieves are looking for when they break into vehicles.
