Received the call today from regional guy who stated they had ordered a bottom end...He hadn't spoken with the dealership yet but said he would touch base with me Friday.
Later in the day the dealership called to update me and said that they will be replacing the "whole motor" and that it would been in end of the week or so. When I had them verify that it was a "whole motor" and not just the bottom end he said yes. I asked if they had pinpointed a problem or if this was just an easy fix to something that they couldn't find. He said that they didn't find any issues with the head/head gasket and that's all this advisor knew.
I am glad they are replacing the entire engine but it would be nice to have some sort of an answer to why this happened.

Well at least your getting it fixed. Maybe they will find out more as they tear into it. Good luck!

*UPDATE*
The mustang is back in the shop. We got it back June 29th with a replaced bottom end. I had received conflicting statements on what a "motor" meant, I had even questioned to whether they meant just bottom end or entire engine, service advisor stated "whole motor"...
Anyway, in less than 24hrs I thought I had noticed a hesitation when I went to take off from a light, so higher rpm. I let it go thinking I was having pseudo symptoms from before but then my husband mentioned it after he drove it. I tried to recreate the issue and couldn't. Then about 2 weeks later it happened again but even worse than before the replacement motor. I immediately called the dealer and explained situation. Their attitude was about as sarcastic as my words when I say I'm just overjoyed right now. Appt was Thur with them saying that it was throwing a Cam shaft position sensor and they would fix it on Monday, to come get it and bring back Mon.
Yes, go ahead and drive it to Cincinnati and Indy and you'll be fine...
So I go pick up the car and advisor states its also throwing "false" codes like ABS, PCM, AND another I forgot. I again mentioned that I didn't like driving it but he assured they were fine and wouldn't bother the car. I then left and called Ford CS and left message.
Friday I drove car to work and had an episode that was the worst it's ever been... Immediately called dealer and got ahold of someone who couldn't help me until manager was there, so called CS again and explained the situation. He immediately set up for a rental car and told me to take it back in...

So it's not sitting back at the dealer who worked on it before and I'm in another rental with no answers yet

Just spoke with dealer and they are saying it was a Cylinder head temp sensor (#2) that was bad. They're stating that this sensor would cause it to throw false codes such as ABS, PCM, and Cam shaft position sensor...
They are having manager drive it home tonight and someone drive it tomorrow morning and see how it acts...
