I picked up a used and lightly worn OEM GT500 CFTP wing recently. It suffered from surface scratches that were quite easily repaired.

Anyone who has seen my CF wheel repair thread can put 2+2 together and visualize the repair process.

It came out quite well. All scratches were filled and the whole wing was wet sanded in preparation for clear coat.

Stay tuned for the result. It should look like it was new out of the box when I'm done.

Clear coat this week.

Are you planning to keep it, or sell it?
I bought it to keep it. I'll probably have it PPF'd and keep it as a spare. I still want to get around to making my own down the road. I have a CAD file of a scan I had converted. My local foam shop has a 3d CNC foam cutting machine. I could have it cut from super high density foam and then apply carbon fiber over the top of it.

Your misses must either be away, or as tolerant as mine when it comes to having car bits in the house / on the table / in the sink etc ... :giggle:

Your view is 'considerably' better than mine though ... :inlove:

Nice wing for sure. I had no idea they were so pricey, especially with slight surface scrapes.

I immediately had a flashback to a time when I was doing a final scrub on a disassembled Holley carburetor in the kitchen sink, and the wife unit came home earlier than expected from town. Chaos ensued.

Agreed on the view!

I baked the High Temp paint on a set of small block shorty headers in the oven while my wife was out to dinner with her cousins.
Then they all came back to our house so my beautiful bride could show them the house as we had just bought it. ☹
The headers turned out gorgeous ! 😉

I like to disassemble things.

If you think that's pricey you're not gonna want to hear what a new wing from Ford costs...
