I'm a bit surprised how clean this looks at 100k miles when compared to other vehicles I've worked on.

Not that I was expecting sludge, but at least discoloration and maybe some small buildup.

Cam wear looks pretty OK. No grooves that I can feel.

I use Penzoil Platinum at 3k interval, if anyone wants to know. Not that the brand probably matters.

What oil weight? Those intervals and good quality synthetic will cause those results in most cars.
I used to have a Zetec Focus that looked like that under the VC at 180k. Previous owner ran unknown synthetic, I used Pennzoil Platinum.

I’ve been a big fan of Mobil 1 0W40 Euro for a long time now. I run it in my Mustang, 2.7 F150, the wife’s Audi, and my old Chevy box truck. So far none of them have shit the bed so it must be ok! It simplifies the oil shelf in the garage too.

Anything that can get MB 229.5 and Porsche A40 specs is going to be damn good oil, and I can get this stuff for 29 bucks/5 quarts at the Bi-Mart 2 miles away. Got it for 23 on sale last week, can’t beat that!

Timing chain tensioner brackets will have some wear as they are plastic and get eaten by the chains.

If you are planning on doing a paxton I would recommend a new oil pump, upgraded oil pump gears and cranksprocket, gt350 primary chains, new secondary chains, new tensioner brackets, and boss 302 tensioners.

I am installing new oil pump with Billet gears and a new timing set but didn't go with the Boss tensioners and 350 primaries. Wasn't sure it was worth it. It's hard to get any real definite answer on this

I don't think its needed just cheap upgrades IMO.

I don't want to worry you but did you check clearances of the new oil pump gears? I know people have reported problems with the mmr gears.
