If you're going to mod the car, get the non-PP so you can pick the mods you want yourself. If you're going to keep it more or less stock get the PP so it's already sorta modded.

Is there anyone else that has gone from non PP to PP, or vice versa?

I will be modding the car, and while it would be nice to avoid the initial depreciation hit, I also feel like I may end up paying more in the long term for all of the option included in the PP.

Those with non PP cars, what do you feel is missing/regret vs a PP car

Does the used car have a warranty? Also at least for me, the Performance Pack is worth it.

if its cold much of the year where you are, you will want to run A/S tires, and that will negate much of the advantage of the PP

For used cars, I would shop with a paint meter to make sure it hasn't been in an accident.

Does anyone know how to tell if a Mustang has had an engine tune loaded? If that cannot be determined, I would adjust my offer accordingly.

Private party is often more open to negotiation than a dealership. So you might can get the car below KBB.

GroundSpeed- The car will still have the remainder of the factory warranty

Paul- I live in the Pacific NW so we mostly just see s lot of rain.

The two things that I wouldn't upgrade on my own would probably be the brakes and gears.

I have the seller down to $20,800, so Im starting to lean towards the $5200 difference being worth it. Will I miss the brakes/gears in DD/slightly spirited driving?

I havent actually driven the PP car, so unfortunately I cant directly compare the two.

supposedly Ford service department can tell if a Mustang has had a custom tune. Call them and ask. If so, then you could have them do an inspection, and given you something in writing that hte car is stock, so there won't be any warranty hassle.

I'd definitely go with the used!! 4K miles is nothing. I spend the additional $$ in a Cobb stage 3 upgrade with THIS package

[ame]

Take the rest of the cash and upgrade the suspension and you will have a MUCH better performing car for the same money!

If you will be taking the car to the track, I'd get the PP with the Brembo brakes. Other than track use, the standard brakes can easily be upgraded with just pads and be more than sufficient.

only if it's never had a custom tune.

at 70F, PP is worth it
at 50F, not so much

3.55 gears would be more fun, at least for city driving

Ford Koons in Washington DC has this Ecoboost listed :

2016 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Coupe Washington DC
WOW Price 20,699*

this doesn't include Dest Charge and VA fee, but in theory you could get a new one for ~ $22000. Assuming their deal is legit. And for used cars, I would want a $5000 discount to take the risk. Pushing the deal you mentioned down to $17000. You can check on KBB to see if this is in the ballpark

The brakes on the PP aren't Brembo's they are the brakes from the previous GT or current GT i believe.

Is 4k a lot of miles for the Eco boost? Ive seen the car, it doesn't appear to have been abused.

How are the brakes on the non PP vs PP Eco?
Will the 3.55 diff make a noticeable difference?
This car will be mostly a DD, so it will primarily see city driving.

Thanks again for all of the advice.

Im leaning towards new, but $5k isn't chump change.
4K miles is literally nothing in the big picture. If the tires look new (no sign of burn-outs) I seriously doubt the car could be hurt. Heck, even with burn-outs, it would be hard to hurt the car in 4K miles. Find out where he bought it and see if it has had the first service. Make sure it doesn't have the dreaded driveline vibration, though. 5000.00 is at least a year of payments, so that is not insignificant either.

Paul- Unfortunately, the 2016 doesnt seem to be listed on KBB, though the 2015 still books for a little over $21k.
You have a really good point about the tune regarding warranty.

At this point Im heavily leaning towards the new vehicle. I would rather regret not saving some money vs regret not having the car I actually wanted.

Thanks again for everyone's time/advice.

If you mod the car, kiss the warranty good buy. If I would to do it over I'd go for a 2015 with low miles, pp, and maybe a better deal

That would show on the tires... I'd just drive it to the dealer it was purchased from and tell them I want to buy this car, pay them their diagnostic fee and verify that there are no codes and that the warranty is good. Done, saved 5000.00.

I agree. Make sure there is no accident damage and no custom engine tune. Those are the big ticket items. Although I think he should try for $5000 off the price of a new base EB, to keep it apples to apples comparison.
