Here's a quick and easy solution for the undecided:

1. Test drive a former generation STOCK suspension Mustang (or two) with a live axle. Make sure you hit some bumps along the way.

2. Test drive a sixth gen Mustang with and without the performance package.

3. Realize that...while not perfect, Ford has come a long way with this new car, whether it has the performance package or not.

4. Make your decision based on the ride quality, etc., you prefer the most.

I didn't even test drive a base model, because the handling, gearbox, and freaking insane stopping power of the performance package setup was right for my daily driving needs and wants.

Seems like all of the old dudes here prefer pillowtop automatics. Can't go wrong with that. ;)
I am old by this groups standards. Very old. I have a MT, --- and always have. I
have the PP out of choice----I love it.

Not harsh at all in fact I thought it was still too soft so I ended up getting stiffer springs, but the pp options are still better and worth the money for everything else you get.

Great Idea

I think this is a great idea and is pretty much what I did. I drove a non PP version of my GT and then a PP version. I thought the ride was very comparable and with the IRS now the car handles/rides very nice, even with the PP. The reason I got the PP was that I liked the interior dash/gauges, the value for what you get is awesome, and I thought it handled much nicer and was more responsive.

I had considered buying a 2011 with the "brembo brake package" but it rode like a truck compared to my 2015 GT PP. Just my two cents. Good luck on your decisions.

This one again. Both parties will argue for it.

1. The PP isn't harsh.
2. The PP makes the car do what it already does well, better.
3. The PP is more than worth the money you shell out for it.
4. If you don't have the PP, you can make it in the aftermarket, but it will cost alot more.
5. If the ride is a concern, you could get the PP and go to a more compliant suspension and still get all the other cool stuff for alot less than you would have in the aftermarket.
6. Brembo.
7. If you were 9 years old this thread would be hilarious to you. PP

People will tell you either way. I have the non PP and while it can be floaty the roads in my area are shit. People will tell you both ways but I would think about road quality in your area before you decide you want that extra road feel. That extra could become a pro or con. The non PP was tight enough for me and I like the all seasons so I don't have to have two sets of tires. I'd think about the diff too. 3.55 seems to be the money gear ratio for the s550

I have a 2015 with PP I have had two knees and hip replacements also herniated disk in my back I find the ride very nice and for $2495 PP is the deal of a life time if you had to buy and install the parts you get with the PP it would cost you $8000.00 or so the resale value its self make worth it making the PP option a NO BRAINER!
