Having run a firestone for a number of years i can tell you that it would not take more than a couple of hours to find a tire in that size in any metropolitan area. Now if you live in nowehere Texas or east bumfuck Nebraska sure it may take some time. And if you do then plan ahead and order a tire well in advance and keep it in your garage or go to your local tire shop and ask them to order one or two to keep in stock for you.
DC Metro area, 2 national chains and 3 local tire places. Best they could do was next day at $150 more than tirerack.

I wish we could just put 285/35/18 michelin cups on the track pack cars.

you could stagger the michelin sport cup tires on the track pack, talk to your dealer.

I am trying to negotiate a deal with them to swap the p-zero's for michelin pilot super sports of the same size, sometimes dealerships will do that for you

I think a 18'' wheel makes more sense, that would be great idea if you wanted to keep the 19''. Seems unnecessary to me though.

Guy's come on! Yes the PP is $2,500 but...just go to any of the following site...

American Muscle
Late Model Restorations
Ford Racing

Price the Performance Pack parts seperatly. The costs are way more than the factory is charging for the upgrade.

Brembo 15" 6 piston = $1,800
Boss 302 Radiator = $500.00
3.73 Gears = $150.00
Torsen Limited Slip = $800.00
Strut Tower Brace = $150.00
Sway Bar and springs...well I think you get the idea. Thats the price just to buy the parts. It doesn't include any install if you need it.

I for one think it worth the extra cost. IMO
While I see your point, you aren't figuring in the costs of the original parts you're replacing. It's like when you buy a new-construction home and they charge you an arm and a leg for wood floors or stainless appliances - you don't get credit for the carpeted floors / white fridge you're giving up and thus they aren't paying for. Granted, it'd be hard to sell the stock parts back, but Ford is making a killing on that package because it's nowhere near $2500 in price difference between stock and PP parts. Of COURSE it's a good deal if you'd do the upgrades anyway, but how many Mustang owners in the aftermarket scene upgraded their radiators in the past 10 years? How about for those without FI plans? This is marketing, and it's working judging by some of the retarded 'OMG I drive in the desert so I need a bigtime radiator!' comments I'm reading in here. To each their own, but on a DD I don't much see the point. Undecided as to whether I'm getting it, and hoping they offer a last-minute alternative to the black wheels based on the hundreds of grumblings.

Well, $39.99 for the parts, but it's always the labor that gets you. Two hours of labor at $75 / hour and it's less cheap to break things...
You're going to pay for the labor of fixing the tire anyway. Changing out the sensor as part of that job isn't going to cost anything. The real expense is in time, as in waiting for the sensor to arrive because it's a cinch that the shop won't have one.

I keep one in my garage at home, just because.

It's a TRACK package. As such, Ford upgrading those parts that are typically needed for track duty (e.g. radiator) makes total sense. And the fact that all of those parts are included at such a good price, compared to having to upgrade them via the aftermarket is the entire point. Who cares how much extra it costs Ford? The point is how much is SAVES anyone that might be inclined to perform even a subset of those modifications that are included. The mods are all engineered to work together. They are all heavily tested and tuned that way... oh, and fully warrantied, btw. There is a lot of value in all that.

Don't hold your breath on the wheels. MAYBE, if we're lucky, they'll make it a Job 2/3 thing, but not going to happen out of the gates. Realistically it will probably be a MY '16 change, if they decide to make it. EDIT: and also, anyone that is holding out until next model year over the wheels or any other minor quibble is taking a risk if you ask me. It's around $400 to get wheels refinished, I believe. What if Ford increases prices for MY '16? Certainly waiting is never a foolproof plan...

But these are the people that are interested in buying this package. If you're the sort that buys a car for a daily driver and leaves well enough alone, then of course you won't see the value to it. But you aren't the targeted buyer. Keep in mind, though, the content of the PP consists of either additional parts (like the strut tower or K-member braces) or of low volume, specialized parts that are replacing high-volume, low cost parts. So the ratio of added content to deducted content is probably not what you think it is. It isn't 1:1, not by a long shot. If Ford is buying the Torsen diff, the 3.73:1 gearset, the 6-piston calipers, even that larger radiator, in volumes of 10K/yr, their costs are going to be a lot higher than the standard parts that are built in volume 10X that. That's just manufacturing, and doesn't get into the actual content differences that drive costs. To the customer that's interested in getting the best performance bang for the buck, that PP is a smoking deal.

The brakes alone are worth the PP $. Mine will be used as a DD.
Will the PP Brembos have the pins you have to bang out to replace the pads? I changed brake pads on my friends Evo and considered a trip to the mental institution after it. It will definitely make me take the car to the dealership for brake pad changes.

Yea it is crazy money for the pads (It was $600 for a while there for a full set on the Evo). I think hawk and EBC have after market pads that help with the cost but you arent getting the "real" Brembo factory brake pad experience at that point. The Evo manages to eat through a set of brakes every 6 to 12 months so its definitely a cost factor and I hope the Mustang Brembos are better and we get better life. Its one of the things I will be watching for on the boards to see if the PP is for me...Adding $100s a month to my car bill for brakes is no mas.

Was the short life of the pads because they were ceramic?

They are the exact same brakes that are on the GT500, so unless they made a dramatic change to the pad compound for the S550, I would think that Shelby owners should be able to comment on pad wear...
