All the reviews I read had the performance pack. I am curious how much worst the handling is w/ out the PP. I also wonder how much slower 0-60 the Ecobbost and GT are w/ out the PP. I would ballpark it around half a second slower 0-60. Does anyone have any input on these factors possibly with how previous models were effected by having or not having the PP.

the PP doesn't add anything that would make it faster 0-60, I don't believe.

With the exception of the gears, which you can get optional, PP adds weight and could be quicker with an auto. So it is all in how you look at it.

You have much bigger brakes, so there is additional weight, albeit not a lot.

and isn't the 3.73 available as an addon?
Only if you add on the Performance Pack. Otherwise, you can opt for 3.55:1 gearing on GT, but 3.73 is not a stand alone option.

It's available through Ford Racing..

I'm considering skipping the PP and just ordering the Torsen, 3.73s and exhaust from Ford Racing or one of the other aftermarket suppliers.

3.73:1 gears on PP.
actually there is a pretty vocal group who believe the 3.55s give the best 0-60 due to the shiftpoints.... plus the PP carries some extra weight due to the chassis bracing

Sure they are, but that wasn't the question, at least as I understood it.

I'm looking at doing the same thing, since the PP isn't offered with a convertible at all. I'm hoping that the PP dash applique and center gauges will find their way into the FRPP catalog as well. The Torsen for the Super 8.8 hasn't been listed by FRPP yet though, hopefully that will change. But even if it doesn't, I don't expect to have difficulty getting my hands on one... :D

It would be great putting the torsen 8.8 in an automatic with 3.55s. It will probably run $2k installed all said and done.

Thanks to all that chimed in. My 2 questions were independent of each other. First how well the mustang will handle w/ out PP. Second part regarding accelaration to 60. I wondered if PP specifically the gearing would improve 0-60 much. Based on responses it would probably be pretty much neglidgable in a manual.

Aren't non-PPs equipped with all-seasons or some lower-tread wear compound?

The Autoweek article reviewed the non-PP GT and had high praise for it, as I recall, which is encouraging.
