Hey everyone!

I’ve got a 2019 Mustang GT - Stage 2 whipple on whipple tune making 705whp 560tq

Looking to switch to a PBD tune because the whipple tune is making the vehicle upset and I just think it’s time to get onto a pro tune.

What type of numbers can I expect on pump? 30whp gain?

Also, what’s the novelty burble tune…? Does PBD have a lot of burble without this? Does the novelty make it way more obnoxious? Thanks!

Whipple left maybe a little power on the table up top due cam timing and gdi optimization. The real opportunity is below 5000 rpm. I don’t know what PBD does, specifically, though.

i Picked up 51 hp and 43 tq over the Whipple tune with a custom tune, also seemed to pick up some MPG. Forget about that nonsense “ burble” or “ghost cam“ tunes, why would you purposely want your car tuned to run poorly just because kids on YouTube think it’s cool?

Guys get all fixated on final peak numbers, but it largely depends on how "safe" or risky you make the tune. The tuner doesn't have some magic wand to make the motor make more. Whipple's tuners could make the same power as PBD as any other tuner, it's just how much timing, how much (or little) fuel, etc.

The real differentiator with tuners comes for driveability and street manners, how they can setup automatic trans shift points, etc.

But the motor on 22 degrees of timing and .82 lambda at WOT is gonna make the sauce it's gonna make. Could another tuner make more? Sure, but it would come with more timing, less fuel (aka more risk).

Whipple has to produce a 50 state legal "calibration."

You'll probably make a little more power with PBD (or others) but the reason to go with them is if the whipple tune has manners or driveability issues.

Lastly, adding risk on 93 is just a bad move. 93 is REALLY unpredictable so unless you're going to run fuel treatment in every tank, there's no reason to push things beyond what Whipple or Ford or people who have to warranty a vehicle provide. On KNOWN and quality fuel, sure. So if you do go with a custom tuner, my recommendation is to ask for safety over peak numbers. It only takes one gulp of bad 93 to give you frownie face.
