Z23==Z26 as it concerns pad compound. The 26 just has a Ti shim

Well I cleaned off the rotor and put the pads back on without the inner shim. Should be OK to drive in the short term while I research and find a new set of front pads, did not like the OEM pads anyway. Oh, and my wife came out to see what was going on and said those red brakes look stupid! 😂
Did you que up the Bill Burr comedic comeback for your wife’s comment?

Little secret on changing the color of the PP1 grey 6 piston Brembo’s to red… I bought a new pair of red Brembo’s from Tasca Ford for $550. Then swapped out my grey oem PP1 calipers which I then sold for $400! No downtime, no masking or painting, just swap and bleed for $150! This was a couple of years ago so not sure on current prices. For the rear I bought a spare set of GT rear calipers off eBay for $100, painted Rustoleum cherry red at my leisure and installed when convenient to me with little downtime in n the swap.
I see your beautiful and impressive new Tasca Brembos leisurely installed with little downtime, and raise you a $50 can of G2 and a $6 amazon sticker and about 3hrs. 😁😉

What year did the PP1 start coming with black calipers?

Hola shogun! - To start I did not originally have the 6/4 piston brembo's - just the 4/2. Your right that it would of been cheaper to paint as $50 would of fixed the color to black or whatever (I'm hoping it didn't cost you $500 to paint yours:shock:) The Wilwood 6/4 we're a significant chunk of change(like I had said in the post) - $3,430.27 shipped, not anywhere close to 6k🤔 - but they were also significantly cheaper then going the Brembo 6/4 option while still being an upgrade - beyond just paint - in both performance and looks(IMO). But bright red calibers seem to be the thing as every 6th car I see driving has them so I guess I'm not really in the popular or intelligent crowd anyways. Thanks for the Input!

quit with the condescending crap dude. The price he quoted was off the brembo price, the factory GT350 brakes. 6k to do.

As for red, well, Brembo and all other aftermarket manf. kinda made that the standard for HP brakes. (WW included). But some of us have been doing that for decades anyways. My entire car is bright red. in fact, every single one of my cars, trucks, and motorcycles is red, except for one. Even my tractor. not the brakes, the body. (brakes too on some of em).

BTW, your car looks great. keep it up!

As far as I know, all PP1 & PP2 Mustangs came with a dark gunmetal gray colored Brembo’s. Bullet and Mach 1’s got the red Brembo’s.

heard a horrible grinding when I hit the brakes.
Oh. My. God. Come on Mike, you gotta be better than this!
my wife came out to see what was going on and said those red brakes look stupid! 😂
Hello; Was going to suggest rust on the rotors making the grinding noise. Then as i read thru the thread saw you found and fixed the problem.
Having been married twice myself I sympathize.

I just went with red g2 caliper paint. Have never had any issues with it chipping or peeling.

BTW, Krylon Cherry Red, is a good match to the Brembo red, when painting your rear calipers.
