So I test drove it yesterday after reinstalling everything, pretty long drive with no issues. This morning I took it out and got to the stop sign at the end of the street and heard a horrible grinding when I hit the brakes. Did it 3 times and then heard what sounded like a small bolt fall out??? Backed it up into the garage, thought for sure one of the front pad pins had fallen out and let the pads droop forward onto the rotor hat but they’re all there. Great, now I have to pull all the wheels again and see if something’s loose or missing. Could have been a rock but sure is a weird coincidence that it happened the day after a brake job! 😡😡😡

Oh. My. God. Come on Mike, you gotta be better than this!

Infuriating and embarrassing. Great, now I have to buy a new set of front pads. Walked all around the street where it fell out and couldn’t find it, even looked up in the front fairing behind the splitter, no luck. Luckily, no rotor damage, just the lube that I put on the shim.

the innie pad was identifying as an outie.
Pad (orientation) Lives Matter.
It would seem that identifying as something else didn’t actually change reality in this case, unfortunately…

Looks great, and I hope it was an enjoyable labor of love...! Otherwise, yeah, the $495 would have been worth it lol.

EDIT: Oops, just saw the lil brake pad faux pas... that's unfortunate. Probably taking away at least a lil of that enjoyability, hah, but hopefully not too painful of a fix.

Well I cleaned off the rotor and put the pads back on without the inner shim. Should be OK to drive in the short term while I research and find a new set of front pads, did not like the OEM pads anyway. Oh, and my wife came out to see what was going on and said those red brakes look stupid! 😂

at least she didn't see the pads and question your MENTAL capacity out loud. I'm guessing "well, your lipstick <ins color> looks stupid" wouldn't go over too well.

$3000 answer to a $500 problem? :)
wait, looks like you got rear 4-pots too so make that $6000
Hola shogun! - To start I did not originally have the 6/4 piston brembo's - just the 4/2. Your right that it would of been cheaper to paint as $50 would of fixed the color to black or whatever (I'm hoping it didn't cost you $500 to paint yours:shock:) The Wilwood 6/4 we're a significant chunk of change(like I had said in the post) - $3,430.27 shipped, not anywhere close to 6k🤔 - but they were also significantly cheaper then going the Brembo 6/4 option while still being an upgrade - beyond just paint - in both performance and looks(IMO). But bright red calibers seem to be the thing as every 6th car I see driving has them so I guess I'm not really in the popular or intelligent crowd anyways. Thanks for the Input!

You're welcome... glad to be able to give everyone a chuckle today! :like:

Don't know how many brake jobs I've done but this is the first time with Brembos. I was very careful to make sure to keep track of which pad was outer and which was inner but for some reason I was under the impression they would be designed so you could only install them one way. WRONG!!

Took it for a ride without the inner shim and you'd never know the difference. Not a peep out of them. In fact half the reason I don't like the stock pads is how squeaky they are - that, and all the dust. They stop fine.

Not a lot of info online yet about Mach 1 pads, bummer. Searching 2020 Bullitt pads, they should fit.

they are all identical. I went Z23 for street duty. Love'm.
Bought a set of Z26 to try out, if they turn out to be not very streetable then Z23's is it. Seems like a huge price jump from these to Hawk, EBC and Baer, I'm probably not a serious enough driver to appreciate the difference.
