Hey everyone,

Has anyone got the P061D code and know what steps I should be taking to get it fixed? I'm hoping to avoid having to have it towed to the dealership.

Car details:
23,000 mi
2020 GT Premium PP1
10R80
Ford Performance tune installed 7/2020
I only have the Ford Performance ProCal4 device to check/clear codes so I may be missing more codes as I believe Forscan showed more back when I had access to it.

This past Saturday the wrench light and "Drive modes not available" popped up on my dash. The car seemed to be engine braking randomly and the active exhaust randomly opened and closed. The 10R80 was trying to get to 10th gear as quickly as possible as would stay there until I nearly came to a stop. I haven't had any issues prior and the only recent changes I made was changing the stock heated steering wheel to an aftermarket non-heated steering wheel the weekend before. It was 102°F and the car was parked outside in the sun for a couple of hours but temps on the gauges were all normal for the higher ambient temp. I'm not sure if the high temps caused this or if it was coincidental timing.

The wrench is limp mode, which is why the car drives like garbage. I'd definitely look for more DTCs, which would help you troubleshoot the cause.

Before taking to the dealer, I would first clean the MAF and throttle body. You can also idle the car briefly -- with the intake off -- and watch for any issues with the throttle body blade, such as it sticking or moving rapidly / clicking.

Given that it started right after a new steering wheel, I would also consider "recent changes" as potential culprits.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info!

I just talked to Ford Performance techline and he acted like he thought it was an issue with the software/calibration. I emailed him my info and he said he would pass along to the programming guys.

I will definitely start with your advice if Ford Performance's help doesn't work.

@MiamiGT350 after cleaning and checking everything it was still doing the same things. Dropped the car off at the dealer yesterday and I just got back from loading the stock tune because they wouldn't touch the car with the Ford Performance tune loaded. After I let the service advisor know the stock tune was loaded he tells me the tech working on my car already left and wouldn't be back until next Tuesday... 😔

Just got my car back from the dealer to have the AC go out less than 48 hours later. She's going back in tomorrow.

Good luck with getting yours fixed!

I finally got my car back last Friday. It ended up just being the PCM was corrupted and needed to be reflashed.

Hopefully yours is fixed and stays that way!
