Lot of talk about detailers on this forum. What do they do and what's it cost?

I'm not jealous BTW :D

A decent detail, ÂŁ300-500, aspect valeting usually do well, as for others, Topaz are the best for proper good meticulous detailing.

If the dealer has 'cleaned' the car, you can guarantee it will be awash with paint swirls from a single sponge and bucket that's been used to clean umpteen other cars in the lot.

The logic behind a 'detail' (more accurately paint correction) is to remove all the machine polishing/sponge marks, then seal the paint. This makes subsequent cleaning easier and keeps the worst of the crap off especially in this weather!

So big-up to Basingstoke Valeting Centre for the top job on the car. They're definitely going to be looking after my car from now on.

For anyone wondering about the decklid, it was a brand new take-off from a V6 in the States. Car was driven from the dealer this morning, round to the garage where I fitted the panel before being driven to the valeters for a good clean.

I didn't think it was that bad at the dealer but now it's actually polished you can tell it was absolutely filthy, but then I did tell them not to wash it. Or fit the plates.

Nice, that's not ur garage is it :)
I wish. :D

It fits in my garage. Just. And when I say just, I mean JUST, like no more than an inch either side with the mirrors folded in and some giant bubble wrap to protect the door edge when I squeeze in and out.

Just waiting for the wheels, exhaust & emblems to turn up then I can get the clear film and Martini stripes fitted!

ETA thx for the nice words all. Hang in there and you'll be starting your own threads soon enough.
