No responses on this yet. Any insight? I thought I had read Ford intended to do this so the GT350 could not be cloned at least visually.
My thought is it's not likely, but even if it does happen, GT350 and GT350R VINs are all over the internet. Take your pick.

Yeh totally different process with a CF wheel. It is many times more expensive than aluminum in the materials/process. CF is done by hand vs milled on a machine.

I highly doubt you will find them anywhere near under $1,000/wheel. And they won't be producing 6,000 sets of wheels per year selling 500Rs; and likely don't have the capacity to produce some inflated amount.
Ford was supposedly not able to get more than a few thousand Eaton superchargers annually for the GT500s. They found 11,000 of them in the first year. Vendors dance to the music of their major corporate customers who butter their bread and find ways to fill orders.

1) exclusivity (500, or so per year) ....YAWN. Still a cool car but, Yawn
2) wheels, and tires, Tires will last you a fraction of what the Standard tires will, Those Wheels will bring tears to your eyes when you damage them.
3) front and rear spoiler No big deal to wait for aftermarket
4) red painted brake calipers Seriously? Buy some caliper Paint and Brembo Vinyl badging make em red yourself
5) special tune suspension (i.e lighter wheels etc..) Umm On the Magnaride? Its a dialed in tune that can likely be had later
6) unique exhaust note Uh huh...just listen to what happens when you remove the OEM resonators on the GT350
7) red deviated stitching on seats and steering wheel Seriously what are we Divas? Wait for that first wreck and buy them used
8) ability to have the best of both worlds (i.e. A/C Nav. and Track coolers) Umm if you add the AC back on then I guess yes...you're now almost as heavy as where you started...yup best of both worlds
9) wider back tires I've been modding my other Stang for a while...I already own wider tires, additional wheels, etc etc etc

I really get it though I understand The "R" is just a sexy assed variant. But from a value as a regular guy....Not there. It's literally less of the amenities that matter for a daily driver, but for more money. Does that compute?.... Pay me more to add these cosmetics and I'll take away all these things that make it livable.

And arguing that you can add the AC, stereo, speakers and maybe back seats back just negates the reasons for light weighting in the first place....

And get this...

you get charged more to remove it all and you don't have the items on the side to show for it.

oh well.... but you got the "R"

You know I may not in your opinion be as cool in a GT350 tech pack, but knowing that I paid $1400 less than the MSRP for it...YUP ....LESS. means it won't already be a devalued purchase the second I drive it off the lot. And it will have more value in it than any of the ADM purchases I could have settled for.

hmmm. So now..... for the $11.4k more for the "R" and the additional $10k minimum ADM up as high as 50k. I can buy my extra wheels and Sport-cup tires and still have more retained value than buying the "R".

The depreciation of the car won't piss me off every time I start it. I'll be happy knowing there may be more chance for me to drive a car daily that doesn't lose it's value and that I won't have to eat the cost of the ADM in the future when and if I do sell or trade it and the dealer now says well the going rate is about what the car went MSRP for. I can live with that and sleep better knowing it.

But of the boy racer in all of us... My respect to all the owners of any variant of this car.

Just don't reveal how much you paid for it so the sane members won't shake their heads behind your back.

That didn't stop him in 05:headbang:
Not a bad commercial. Shoulda been a green Mustang and an ad for the Bullitt IMO.

I just don't get the man-love, sorry. Maybe I'm too young - not that I am young - I'm just not old enough. I was born in the late 60s and by the time I was into car movies McQueen was over. I do like the car chase in Bullitt for historical value and the cars in that movie are cool. It's kinda like James Dean or Elvis - I understand in theory people thought McQueen was cool, but most of those people were not my generation.

The R with the elect pkg provides the best of both the GT350 track and tech pkg which you can't otherwise obtain. The Recaro seats, coolers and Sync 3. But I understand where your'e going....you still won't be one of the cool kids though.:headbang:

To be clear, the GT 350 Track Pack "DOES" include AC, right? Just not dual climate control?

Thanks

According to the Ordering Guide, that is correct - manual air-conditioning, with a cabin air filter.

Why would they do this? They've never done it before. Even back in 1965, Shelby GT350 parts were huge sales over the counter in the parts department. And that has never changed.

There are enough tools out there to find a fake that it doesn't matter if someone makes a clone. It's just another modded Mustang.
