Sooo..... just wanted to ask every OPG guru here since I may or may not encounter this tomorrow morning.

IF I end up having to remove the oil pan (worst case scenario), anyway to remove it by just lifting the engine on one side and motor mounts loosen? Or do I have to actually remove subframe blots to get to the oil pan as per Ford manual?
If you drop the bolt, just get a magnetic pickup tool to fish it out. No need to drop the pan!

LOL...don't worry, you won't have to remove the oil pan. The oil pan has a plastic screen at the top that prevent oil sloshing around which will also keep that bolt from dropping into the pan. Like said you could fish it out with a magnet.

Oh I'm not worry about the bolt dropping. Was worry that I couldn't thread the bolt in and may need to drop the pan to do it. But........ I just got it in! Will post some pics and update in a few hours about how I went about it and what has been done so far. I'm am very happy that it is now that that dreaded bolt is in finally

Yeah I've done it twice and got hung up once trying to get those god dam threads to catch. Like i said for me it was just not getting the bolt lined up straight that caused the delay.

Yea, I got really frustrated with that when I was trying to thread it in for 2 hours. This morning, I was able to get it all sorted out.

Alright, I was able to get the stupid oil pickup tube bolt in this morning. Went ahead and took the oil pump out again and check the threads to be certain that it wasn't stripped. Tapped it and it was good to go. Used the electrical tape method that every OPG guru suggested and also stuck my finger in from the left side and around the tube. I was able to touch the bolt with the index finger and was lucky enough to thread it in straight. Went in smooth and had to switch off to the middle finger halfway to keep threading it. The second bolt was left out the entire time until I can get a wrench in there to tighten it up. I am pretty glad that the hard part is finally over. Here are some updated pics and now I have to wait until Monday to finish the rest of the install and nerve-wracking startup of the engine.

Good job. Yeah that one bolt took me 4 hours. I have big hands to say the least so it wasn't easy.

Whoa. That is a pretty sight. Good job Mootang. Keep up the good work and keep posting the pics.

It absolutely means nothing and you'll never see it again but you'd think they would make the mmr on the driver side guide read not upsidedown like the rest. Just my ADD in overdrive.

I know rightttttt, I was thinking the same thing and kept turning it upside down and checking the other side to see if it was side specific, but its not. Only thing I wasn't too happy about was that both the longer chain guide pieces didn't go into the pins easy during install. I have to file the hole out but a ~1mm to get it installed. Other than that, I was happy to remember to take a pic before I closed it up. Will take more pics later as I still have to Steeda parts to pop in also :)

Took me a total of 3 hours and I was lucky my fingers were skinny enough lol.

Thanks! They look good now and hopefully I won't have to see them again (although they would look nice again) after hitting the nerve-wracking start button later.

Soooo I gone and done F-Up! I started to install my ATI Balancer this morning and quit after what happened. Cleaned up shop and decided to come back to it later to fix the issue.

I know the ATI is very tight and hard to get on, but hard enough where the install bolt snaps? I got an MMR install bolt, heated up the ATI, oiled the crank shaft and put some silicon on the keyway. Then began my journey down and was going smothly until I had to use a break bar to keep turning it. Then the crank started to spin, so I popped it into 6th gear and continued another turn on. Then one hard pull and the install bolt snapped. Below are some pictures and any tips on extracting the sucker out is much appreciated!

How are the gurus who installed the ATI getting these on? Am I suppose to switch over to the ARP bolt halfway through? I only have about 0.5 to 0.75 of an inch left to push one before it is lined up right.

You probably bottomed out the longer install bolt in the crank. I used that install bolt just to install the balancer part of the way then I took it out of the crank and installed the Ford bolt and ran the Ford bolt in to run the crank on and then torqued it and called it a day.

Mootang. So sorry. The MMR bolt only installs it half way before the bolt bottoms out and then you switch to the damper bolt that stays with the install.
