I've had that letter too - Deysha has confirmed my car is at the dock, so I'm basically waiting on the next letter telling me which boat its on.

I'm at the dock, no letter but confirmed on Eurasian Highway next week. Dealer may as well not even exist, zero contact unless i've phoned them and when i do i always get "Oh I was just about to call you"
Nice, how did you get confirmed on the Eurasian? I'm hoping for that but my status is compound in at the docks.

Although mine was built 12th August, my UCL car is not on a Ship, not at the Docks !!!!, not waiting to sail !!!!, no letter, no explanation, no apology, no f**k all from Ford !!!!
So what was the UCL Competition all about ? Maybe Andy Barratt would care to explain ?
If you are still checking this Forum Andy, please enlighten us !!!

i understand from Karen batt mines on the slow boat to zeebruggee (ivory arrow)
its now on its way to its third stop (Charleston)
I cant see the delivery being November, that pierre (andys r/h man), told me a month ago
when I had a long conversation with him he assured me November delivery to the customer, which he said was promised all the way down the line and not sooner, will definitely be achieved
me thinks not a chance in hell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I recollect summer being the delivery date when we got the ucl130 congratulations phone call and letter
after that the delivery went up monthly
i'm bloody sure I wouldn't run my business's like this
not only would I go broke but I just couldn't treat customers in this way and still sleep at night
not only am I skeptical that mine is on the boat sailing but what happens when it gets to zeebruggee ???
then onto Southampton !!!!
then the stealer !!!!!!!!!!
oh god,,,,, am I even gonna get it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello fellas. How are things on the right side of road?
Any chances you get the cars before the spring so the rest of the continent start buying parts from UK? Since you guys make almost all of the Ford performance wise parts for us....

I suspect what was thought to be a great marketing idea was never run past the logistics people - even though they tried to restrict the orders to certain colours & spec in reality it was never going to work as people want what they want not some fixed idea and trawling through all the entries to get 130 same spec people would have been a PR mare for them (yes worse than now) As people who 'won' would have been moaning that they could not get the cars they wanted even though the entry rules were clear.
And that's before you add in the time between the final and getting production up and running and all the small issues that were uncovered during that so basically you ended up with UCL winners getting to order any colour and spec they wanted and the orders just went into the pot at the same time.
Yes, they should work harder are trying to keep them special - maybe some extra freebie stuff - but the marketing machine has moved on and they forget all about the UCL as we now have Focus RS, Edge etc to push.
As has been mentioned before Ford have stated Q4 delivery and so far they are not behind - yet! It is looking like it might slip but overall not to bad.
Managing the expectations of the UCL winners could have been better, info to clients could have been better, being treated as if our 30k+ was actually important to the dealers could have been better.
We just want to be treated with a bit of respect and made to feel as if our orders are important to Ford - there is a bit of ground for them to make up - hopefully they will some effort towards this soon.

And even when Ford attempts a coordinated communication, the fabled letter supposed to arrive this week, the dealers don't follow through. Over on Pistonheads someone has published the margins for Ford Stores on Mustangs which explains why we are not a priority for them; I imagine they make more per base Fiesta.

So........... assuming Mr Barratt is still watching, who hasn't received the letter.

Me, for one.
Have you got the link to this piston heads post please ?

I am not sure what the "dealer margin" price is trying to tell us, as it is just slightly under the pre-VAT price... I do know they also have "volume incentives" that kick in as well but I doubt if the Mustang qualifies for that.

I know in the US it quite common to see the "dealer invoice" price but I haven't heard of anything similar in the UK.

But it easy to see that this is quite a profitable car for Ford in the UK; look at the "extra" markups they have on the equipment - paint options, auto boxes and so on are lot more than in the US and don't even compare the base prices (but remember US prices don't include sales tax).

Even the way they priced the cars in the UK doesn't take the different bands of VED into account... but I guess it is simple; 4K for the V8; 4K for the convertible; 1500 for the auto and very limited options.

If I am reading the above table right....Ford's margin on this car is between approx 5.5k and 7.5k margin?! I wonder if that includes the transport costs etc?

No. You have to take the margin on the cost before VAT. The VAT goes straight back to the treasury. That means a few hundred on each car. No wonder they are not interested when you can get a few thousand knocked off a mainstream model by negotiation, which suggests a much bigger margin (or flexibility by Ford on the wholesale price). If they are selling you finance they might be happier. (Explains why I went into 2 Audi dealers to buy a new A3 with cash and couldn't get the time of day. Their loss I have a brilliant Mondeo and a Mustang on the way).

This.

Its only about ÂŁ500-ish per car according to that sheet, same as VW make on a basic Golf.

The profit margin is not much better in the USA, but they're more than happy with it over that side of the Atlantic because they sell so many of them in a month they end up with a tidy sum anyway. In the UK its nothing more than a halo model.

HOWEVER, these are just the prices if you buy in cash. Finance? That's a tidy 6.8% APR. The Mustang GT is the highest priced new passenger car Ford currently sell in the UK, and 70/80% of Mustangs sold are GTs, so the money they end up with at the end of it is quite substantial.

If they're ignoring even Finance customers then its just poor service overall, rather than disinterest in one particular model.
