They're selling between 9 and 12 THOUSAND Mustangs EVERY MONTH in the U.S.; U.S. customers are now taking delivery of MY2016 cars; the GT350 is almost ready and NOW they're telling us we could be looking at almost 18 months from order date for our cars?!!

They're lucky we want this car so bad otherwise I don't think I would be alone in telling them to go stick it up their arse!

I'm a total Ford fanboy but they are reeeeeally trying their hardest to change that.

The nail has been well and truly hit on the head there. Why panic about 1,200 cars a year to the UK when you're selling 10,000 a month plus a s:censored:t-load of GT350's in the US. RHD orders? ..... bigger fish to fry I'm afraid.

It's basically what the recent 'exhaust' letter was really about. You'll recall the sentence starting 'Due to the high volumes of pre-orders ....', well how many times have you heard that BS precede some hopeless excuse for failure to deliver something.

Delivery has always been estimated at 12 weeks, but if Ford are going to have the effrontery/disrespect to now try and tell me that, in fact, they've always said up to 20 weeks then Ford can go and F:censored:K OFF! MY ORDER WILL BE CANCELLED and I'll go and spend my money with a company who are not going to treat me like a total and complete TW:censored:T.

Mine was built a week after Big G so I guess I'm in the same position. ETA to dealer information is a waste of time, and the Ford promise of deliveries in the last quater are looking highly unlikely. The guys in Europe have, and are going through the same thing, with some of them being built months ago.If I didn't want this car so much, well you can guess, but I've come this far. God help us if anything goes wrong
with the car after delivery!

So incensed by the whole situation my missus just fired off an email to Fords CEO

Seeing all the posts and desperation for the car it's truly amazing they have not released the Mustang previously! Ford were so wrong. And they are wrong not to release the GT350 in the UK!

Out of interest, where has this come from?

Thanks for your message. Unfortunately I do not have information as to why this may have been pushed back; however we do advise that vehicles can take between 12 and 20 weeks to arrive when ordered from new. This has been the case from the beginning with the Mustangs. The dealership does have access to systems that we do not regarding orders so they are the best contact as they will have the information first regarding your order. I hope this information helps, and I apologise for the frustration of this. Thanks"

I'm in no rush now, don't want to take delivery in winter so even though I ordered in Jan I would happily wait until March for mine to arrive.

Yep, they've made a right bo:censored:ks of the whole thing. I really think it's about time they started making some official statements to confirm what is going on (and please Ford, no bulls:censored:t this time) ..... or maybe they'll just continue to treat us all like total wa:censored:kers. Sadly I suspect you don't have to be Einstein to guess which option it'll be.

Totally agree about the GT350, by the way.

Sounds like a pretty generic response from either someone at Ford UK assuming that typically a new ford takes 12 - 20 wks from the customer ordering to the customer receiving the car and then wrongly assuming the Mustang fits into this category OR, if the response was from Ford US, they forgot that we are on the other side of the atlantic ocean and that our cars are not getting a scheduled build right after we've ordered. I would dismiss this comment as the author having the wrong end of the stick.

Ditto.

So.....................

A Mustang walks into a bar.

Barman says:-

"Why the long wait?"

Optimistic mode engaged: maybe that 20 weeks is for a car like a Mondeo, from the initial order date, rather than from the date they've actually been built...?

Hopefully.
Having reflected on it, I think you're right. Phew! ..... very nearly over-reacted there :D

Hey-ho .... I guess this is the kind of thing that can happen when there is never any official communication to keep people informed. Like why cars are still waiting to be sent to the upfitters? So it seems that although some of the first folks have had their cars 'built' this doesn't necessarily mean 'finished'. I'm sure the UCL winners would love to know why

And Deysha just replied to my plea for information, my car still hasn't been released to the upfitters yet!!!! but it "should" be in the next couple of weeks, whilst is still due at the docks on 18th Sept. I can forsee this car not arriving this year.
So weird your car was built a week before mine yet my car has been into the upfitters and released from upfitters as well but as of the 18th August when this happened, I have no clue what has been happening with the car for the last 2.5 weeks!!!
