I thought I would post an update for those that are interested. I find posting is somewhat therapeutic throughout this journey. I brought the car in for a warranty repair of the oil leak for the third time and threatened to sue if the car was not fixed. I cited the California lemon law and told them they were already in violation for exceeding 30 days on the same repair. I was told the car was fixed the next day, drove it home (10 miles) and the engine was covered in oil again. I went back to the dealership the next day for the fourth time and raised hell until they agreed to give me a loaner car. It's been a week and a half and the car is still at the dealership. They said they have replaced the oil sensor, drain plug, rear main seal, oil pan gasket twice, and the oil filter adapter flange o-ring. The car is now just shy of 40 total accumulated days at the dealership and the car has less than 13k miles. I bought this car new because I wanted a factory sealed engine that would last me over 100k miles. Even if they do "fix" it, I would worry about latent failures given that the quality of the repairs that I can see are subpar. The last time they changed the oil pan, I could see a quarter inch of silicon visibly squeezed out between the engine block and the pan gasket. Didn't look like this from the factory. I contacted a lawyer and it sounds like it's time to file a lemon lawsuit against Ford. I'm sad that it has come to this, but I want the car replaced, or a new engine with a 100k mile warranty.
However you make it out of this, I would x that service department, and that dealership off of my list forever if I were you.

The saga continues... The dealership called me and said they have given up on the car. They ran multiple dye tests, and changed the rear main seal twice. At this point, they have done at least 8 different repairs, and the car is still leaking oil. The car has now been at the dealership collectively over 40 days. They said that they have submitted paperwork to Ford requesting a specialist to help them with further diagnostics. I will never understand why they won't just replace the motor, as I requested on my third visit. I made one final plea to have the dealership give me credit for the original purchase price and put me in a new car. They guy actually had the nerve to tell me that the trade-in value would be really low because the car is currently taken apart. Seems equivalent to the dealership kicking in the door and saying the car trade-in value just decreased. I told him that this is the end of our conversations and I would now involve Ford corporate, or a lawyer. I opened a lemon law case with Ford. They have a legal department that will apparently review the service records and make an offer within 15 days. I'm optimistic that this is a clear buy back scenario, but if not, I intend to hire a lawyer and take this to court. It's still not clear to me if I just happened to get a bad engine, or if the dealership I'm going to is incompetent, but I really hope Ford corporate steps in and makes this right.

The Dealership won't take your car and give you another and yes, the Rep at the Dealer is correct - they can take your car as a trade in, but you'll take a big hit.

So now that it has been there for a length of time with multiple attempts to fix and it's still not fixed - you NEED to file with the BBB for a Lemon Law claim. This will give you the options of:

1) getting your money back and you totally walk away from the car and go buy something else

OR

2) Ford procurement buys back your car through the Lemon Law and let's you select another of your choice

At this point, it's unfortunate you have to deal with such BS - but start your Lemon claim ASAP, it's not worth dealing with the Dealership anymore at all, nor is it of any value to deal with the Ford CSR's rapt this point.

(On a side note, I say either the block has a crack, the oil filter housing has a crack OR like I stated previously, the crank journal for the rear main was damaged and its continually leaking past the seal. Did they even remove the oil filter housing? Did they check for cracks in the block? Did the tech look at the crank after the rear main seal was removed? My guess is, they haven't really told you much of anything, right?)
