So I currently am using 5w-20 full synthetic. Ive seen a couple threads on other forums where people are talking about using 10w-40. Anyone else on here running a N/A e85 car?

'15 Mustangs are able to run E85? First I've heard of that. I don't think E85 has anything to do with oil viscosity. I had a '13 F-150 5.0 before the Mustang, it was E85 capable but it still required 5W-20 oil. 10W-40 is ran in most motorcycles I've owned and Diesels. If you run E85 in a vehicle that's not E85 compatible...I'd expect bad things to happen.

Lots of Mustangs are running E85. granted you need a new tune and new injectors.

I ran the corn through my 2011 GT with a tune and stock injectors for 5k miles and ran 12.2's with just a K&N drop and a DR before I switched to 47lb injectors for another 5k. I never ran any special oils other than what the ford dealer put in it and never had problems with anything.

I've been asking the same question as I'm about ready to make the switch. I know the subaru/evo turbo/e85 guys run rotella. For mustangs, most people say just run a full synthetic oil. I don't think weight matters that much for e85, more for climate. I'll probably make the switch to RP 5w20 on my next change.

I run Amsoil signature series 0w40 under 15psi and E85.

Anybody that's been on e85 for a while have any further comments? Any milky oil? I'm also thinking about going to 5w30.

Unless you are burning oil for some reason, why would oil choice even be a factor?

What about a catch can/separator for running e85? Anybody running one and noticing any e85 in the can?

You can run a catch can with e85. E85 is just a type of fuel it has no impact on the type of oil you run. People run higher viscosity oil with the idea that it provides better protection which they aren't necessarily wrong but unless you are drag racing every chance you get its a waste of time in my opinion.

I know I can run a catch can with it. I just want to see if anyone's seen any e85 in their cans with the oil. Wondering if it might be more beneficial to run one on an E85 than standard gas car.

Running E85 for 2000 miles, Amsoil Signature Series 0w40, no catch can. Oil looks fine.
