Ya, this is just plain wrong. Higher chance of failure using a plug of a different material. A brass plug will most wear out the plastic threads of the pan causing a huge headache (need for new pan AND proper plastic plug).I use a brass drain plug. I would never trust a plastic fitting in a heat area. Especially when the failure of the cheap plug would result in a catastrophic failure of the engine.
