I do my own oil so i only pay like 70$ in material, as well as my own engine builds 🤣
But yea its definitely better to do good oil intervals and good oil for many reasons including avoiding rebuilds
Doing your own oil servicing definitely saves money. I have done All of my car mods, oil servicing etc. I'm picky so its just easier to do it all myself. Plus, if shit breaks the only person you can blame is yourself lol.

I can't imagine not having more rapid wear if the engine is making more power. This is why I don't trust oil analysis.

Convince me I'm wrong. I have an open mind about it.

Edit: do you send the used filter to them as well? That might give a better result if trying to determine wear rate.

Last time i did my analysis at Blackstone, they didn't care that i was running e85. I also don't know how they could check it because i run a mixture of e85/91 most of the time.

AFAIK e85 just puts a little more moisture in the oil. Moisture, within limits, will generally just boil out with heat. It does chemically redice some additive life though. So the e85 itself doesn’t really hurt anything but the water has some effect.

As long as your oil is protecting the bearings and you're not making 'too much' power, you shouldn't really increase wear

At a certain power level, yes you are going to start wearing the components faster than usual and then the engine will eventually fail, but if you're just making 600-700hp you should be good for 100k+. Certainly not going to see issues in an oil change interval (especially one as short as 700miles like OP)

Isn't the idea that you're getting more fuel in the oil because the engine runs richer (at least you're using more fuel to make the same power) and then the greater ethanol content of said fuel is worse on the oil

I believe most of the fuel distills out of the oil due to heat, with the exception being you make excessive very short trips. Ethanol evaporates at a lower temp than gasoline so I would expect even less remaining in the oil.

Everything has trade offs. Higher HP, reliability will be affected, some more than others. I plan on just ordering Either E95 by the 55 gallon barrel or methonol. That way I get away from pump E85 impurities all together.

E95 and methanol have their downsides as well. I prefer pump e85 and flex tuning to account for variations in concentration.

I couldn't imagine not testing my oil, especially on a blown high boost engine. I would rather find that one of my rod or main journal bearings was wearing excessively and get ready to tear the engine down, clean, freshin up and install new bearings etc then spin a rod bearing throwing a rod out the side of the engine costing over 20k+ in engine replacement. I see it as cheap insurance.

We have been sampling oil for 20+ years, not really sure what the point is .
I was just trying to to be lightly humourous with you reply. Nothing intended at all 👍
