Hey everyone. Just wanted your guys opinion.

My carrier bearing and U joint on the stock driveshaft has failed at 60k miles. Should I get an OEM again for around $500 or go ahead and go aluminum one piece for around double?

let me k la your thoughts

Is your car N/A stock? Do you road course it? Do you drag race it? If you answered no to these questions, I would just go back with stock and save some cash. A one piece can create NVH. But, using a lighter DS your car will rev faster and might even pick up a few HP.

My car is pretty stock besides intake and exhaust and later down the road I can see maybe e85 and tune. I’m just worried another oem one will just fail again

Are you set on a particular brand of aluminum driveshaft? I currently have a Steeda 1 piece on my 2019 and fitment is great. Nice and smooth, no vibrations following the install. Note: There was a small issues that I had to work through, but it wasn’t that bad. you can read about it here:

I also ran a DSS 1 piece aluminum driveshaft in my 2013 GT and it was also very smooth.

Having had both brands, I can say that ai like the Steeda 1piece better (DSS shaftā€˜s pinion flange mount was different than the Steeda). I also like the fact that the Steeda shaft does away with the Guibo disc.

See pic of Guibo here:

If you care about NVH - and daily drive/aren't heavily modified - go with stock.

If you intend on making more power down the line - don't care about some added NVH - go with aftermarket.

OP, I know @Cory S was running a stock (6R80 car) on his at 800+ wheel running low 9's. I think stock will be fine for you at the power level you are going to see.
