I’ve had a 20 EB (and a 21 GT) for two years. The EB has always done this, a mysterious clean perfect circle shows up on the left side of the car when dirty. The EB is a DD that has been dirty for awhile and it showed up again today.
Is it caused by a vortex ? But there’s nothing loose that can rub it clean ? You can see on one of the pictures I ran my finger through it.
Things that make you wonder……

Could be caused by gasoline. The tank is right above it.

Probably this. If it's leaking inside the paneling and getting onto the wheel well paneling that seam would be the first visual indication.

Does the spot exhibit different hydrophobic properties as the rest of the car (coating test spot). Zooming in it looks like there is a piece of thread stuck on the corner from a rag?

Maybe that string flaps around in a circle while driving and “buffs” that spot.

Stick a GoPro above it and drive around.

I did fill up yesterday ? I’ll look closer for a piece of cloth/string. Its been doing this on and off for over a year.

Any chance the area on the opposite side is charged in some way, electrical/magnetic?

Otherwise, I'm going with someone at work keeps rubbing the same spot every day. :bandit:

I've seen this kind of thing before. Look very closely for a web filament at the center of the clean patch (from a spider).

Take a Q-tip through the panel gap. I'm sure it's more than big enough. If your body panels are like some of ours you should probably opt for the chimney brush instead.
