I've decided to not use the 3 push-pins on my battery cover. So far at 60 miles at highway speeds I haven't seen it move. I have lots of extra pins so I could put them in but I've decided to just not use them. I take my battery out twice a year to move from state to state and also this way I can look for battery terminal corrosion. If I see any movement I'll put them in.

I have a battery disconnect switch under that cover that I use while the car is in storage in lieu of a battery maintainer. Haven’t used those pins in a year. You shouldn’t have any trouble.

Removed and bagged mine ~3 years ago. No issues in over 15k miles.

It's not that having them out will make a difference in operation. It's more that some people's OCD rebels when some, or all, are missing.
This is me. I lost one and it drove me nuts that there was an empty pin hole for a few days. I have a missing hood blanket pin too. Just ordered a bag

I agree. I spent a bunch of years working in an operating room and OCD can be your friend. Unfortunately it's a hard habit to break so if something is supposed to be it irritates me no end until I can get it right. If it came from the factory a certain way I want it that way. I'm fine adding things, like hood struts but I'll never remove the prop rod even though it is not used anymore.

I'm OCD on anything being level. Another thing was I was missing a screw underneath on the belly pan and ordered new ones to replace it. On that I did not want it to be unstable at high speeds. As far as the battery cover though, now that I've looked at it the missing pin on the fender is the most noticeable. You guys are going to talk me out of it. LOL

There is a thread on using nutserts along with nylon bolts. Cut the heads off and loctite wing nuts on the threads. Then small fender washers held on with o-rings. Sounds like a lot of work but it takes maybe half an hour if you take a 10 minute coffee break.

Unfortunately, Ford's secret police are on the way to your house to break your legs for this violation.

I use a big bag I got from Amazon to stay in compliance. I've lost a few, and so has the dealer, lol.
OMG coffee just came out of my nose 🤣🤣. I just pictured some dudes in suits and shades jumping out of a blacked out Expedition kneecapping the poor guy 😂. Thanks for the morning laugh!

Any pics of your battery disconnect hookup. Interested in doing this?
TIA

If your OCD levels are off the charts (me kinda) Buy some replacement fasteners, cut the heads off and glue them on the cover, use a few strips of Velcro on the lid to fasten to the base, easy on/off and retains the "stock" look.

I just ditched the plastic plugs and installed Rivnuts, took less then 5 minutes and done, easy and fast to remove the screw, and, if a screw gets dropped/lost a spare is easily replaced in seconds
