This is probably normal, but thought I'd ask here, when I open the drivers door I hear a (hard to describe) noise like the fuel pump activating or initializing? Is that normal? If so, then it does it every time I open the drivers door. On one occasion just standing in the garage it randomly did it the same noise again, I never touched the door or had the key fob on me?? Anyone else experience this?

Yes, that's normal. It is the fuel system charging.

It often happens when opening the Driver's door. It can happen randomly, if the car is not sleeping.

If the battery is disconnected and later reconnected, you'll hear any number of items powering back up.

Yeah, I should have did a forum search first, sorry for the redundant post. This is my first ever Ford, so I was unsure. I know previous GM vehicles I've had did similar noises. Thanks for the reply.

I've seen this in Forscan.

I actually caught my 22 GT doing this once when I was cleaning the rear valance and saw the active exhaust valves move when it did it. I think that is the noise I usually hear..

My car loves to do this when I'm detailing it. I think it's the sensors on the door handles.

Yep totally normal. With all the various electronics within the car, they make a lot of noise even when they’re off. As Skye mentioned, if the car is not in deep sleep, it will prime the fuel pump and do other things that keep it awake so to speak. It will also do it if you are working around the car with a fob nearby. Probably why Ryan hears it when detailing his car (happens to me as well). Still catches me off guard every now and then and I’ve had mine for over 2 years now

Forscan 726-63-01 is Fuel Prime on Door Ajar and -02 is PCM Wake on Door Ajar. I dont suggest changing these, but yeah, it's supposed to.

All of mine make and have made so many different weird clicky type noises they sometimes sound like a bad drummer trying to keep time. In the beginning they worried me but I eventually got used to them. Since they don’t seem to hurt anything or pull the battery down I just chalk it up to mystery and let it go.

Over the last few days I have been in the garage loading ammunition for two weeks of rifle/pistol matches coming up and I noticed the mustang makes random noises. It did it about 4 times in three days and the car hasn’t moved.
