It will depend on what they've done to the usability of MFT. Personally I would rather have something less pretty and easier to use than a beautiful 8" color screen that's a pain to use. If I have to go menu levels deep to change volume or fan speed, I'll be getting the base interior in a heartbeat.

There are hard buttons for all the basic functions... Volume station climate etc..... Plus voice controls. You can actually do pretty much all the everyday functions with out putting finger prints on the screen

Sounds like a big improvement over the (older) MFT I have seen. These are the reasons I am going to wait to see the car in person, sit in both the standard and Recaro seats, and play with the new MFT before I make my order. I plan to keep this car 5-6 years (150-180K in my world) so I want to LOVE it.

OMG I hope they don't do Apple anything, I absolutely hate apple and much rather have something that is Bluetooth or usb integrated if there were to be any updates.. the qnx is good but as far as connectivity, it should both be compatible with both android and even apple not just one or the other because it leaves out a whole market of people, especially ones that have been getting away from apple.

If you review the photos of the interior you can see the hard buttons cover all basic functionality. Tho I too will wait to see one in person before I order.

Yeah, I guess I am but the irony is sync is not compatible with myford touch unless that has changed, there is alot of potential in that system that has not even been tapped BUT that may require an update of the software alone I have never had a vehicle that had syncs so I am not aware of everything about it

So it's ok for us to be fed Microsoft? I would love to try anything but microsuck.

MyFord Touch IS SYNC, just with a touchscreen. And Apple CarPlay doesn't mean that it's just limited to use with Apple devices, it'll still function with other phones for Bluetooth calling, Bluetooth Audio, etc. It's just meant to be better integrated with Apple devices than it is with others (app control, etc.)

But, don't worry, this will not come with Apple's CarPlay built-in anyway. They haven't had enough time to get that integrated yet, if they ever will.

What ticks me off is that MFT doesn't come with AppLink. It makes absolutely no sense, whatsoever. You spend the money to get the better, upgraded audio system and it does LESS than the base audio system. Not to mention that it should be fully capable of doing so. These reasons, IMO, are why Ford decided to switch from M$ to QNX. I don't put the full fault on M$, though. I think Ford really screwed up with SYNC by fragmenting it themselves, much like Google has with Android.

How many of you have experienced (like I have) no SYNC updates for several years, while seeing newer models come out with new features and resolved bugs that you can't even upgrade to get? Or get MFT only to realize that it can't do AppLink? The only thing positive I can say about MFT is that you are much more likely to get upgrades than you are with the base SYNC radio.

no, but it's also not okay to be forced apple.

Apples car play is not apple specific I read. No car manufacturer would use a software that would not work with other platforms. Microsoft Sync sucks and I am sure Apples would be way better and I would be happy to have anyone but Microsoft at this point

I was under the impression that app link 2.0 announced at ces would be the first work on the mft cars......I thought that was part of the big song and dance but looks like I am wrong

Well, I certainly hope that is true and that there is an update to MFT that enables that functionality. For now though, it seems to not be included. This is from the 2015 Mustang dealer guide.

"(3) SYNC AppLink is available on select models and compatible with select smartphone platforms. Commands may vary by phone and
AppLink software. AppLink is not compatible with SYNC with
MyFord Touch.

I think it was a good match Ford & Microsoft... but a mismatch in technology at the time.

Ford decided to switch from M$ to QNX is good.

Obviously now, MS could offer much detailed and streamlines interface & hardware. But I really wish an Windows integration in Ford products.
