JIT isn't the problem. It's literally the reason Toyota still exists. It's also difficult to implement in the US properly. The United States is very large with manufacturing centers spread across the country.Isn't "just in time" JIT, inventory management great?
Also, higher profit margin vehicles will be the last to get idled, as in trucks and SUV's.
This is in contrast of other manufacturing areas like Japan and Germany which are relatively small or China who has all of their similar industries close together by the coast.
