Also, higher profit margin vehicles will be the last to get idled, as in trucks and SUV's.

JIT isn't the problem. It's literally the reason Toyota still exists. It's also difficult to implement in the US properly. The United States is very large with manufacturing centers spread across the country.

This is in contrast of other manufacturing areas like Japan and Germany which are relatively small or China who has all of their similar industries close together by the coast.

I knew the Mustang shutdown was inevitable. I'll be surprised if it's only 1 week. 70k/ year vs. 800k/ year (trucks).

Hmm, this is probably too simplistic but wonder if Ford will reprioritize the schedule to build customer orders first before dealer orders? Seems to make sense from a cashflow standpoint to make the cars you already know you can sell, as opposed to cars that may sit on dealer lots for months.

No clue but the day after they announced the shutdown, they moved my build date a week closer so maybe I was right!

when you buy a car like ordering, do you pay on a loan before you get a car. ie. 6 months to get a car, you pay on the loan/finalize once you receive car? or when you order. just curious if you are forced to pay interest on an item you dont have.

No, you may be asked to put a deposit down, but no financing till delivery to you, the customer.

any way to track your order without an order number? my sales guy just gave me the VIN but he said there wasn't an order number (I'm in toronto by the way)

There has to be an order number to get a VIN. Mine was the 4 digit order preview number.
