Apparently sct can log without a laptop as well. But, as I understand it, only one log file can be saved on the device, which makes data logging for tune revisions pretty much impossible.
Can't you do a 2 minute long data log with shifting through 3rd gear normal, cruising on 3rd gear for 1 minute and then finishing it off with a wot on 3rd till 7200 rpm? Thats what i was told by Lund. So u only need one file. I will be doing this friday on a dyno.

I have over 330 logs on my ngauge . All date and time stamped to track with my videos and timeslips . When it comes to logging I would never go through all the hassle of the SCT .

Several posts have been made about the computer throwing a crank relearn code after downloading a tune. It's rare but it does happen. I'll probably go with the NGauge and hope for the best since it has to many cool features to pass up.

Ngauge means you're locked to Lund's tuning. They're very good so that's not necessarily a bad thing, though.
You don't have to buy the nGauge through Lund or any of his vendors. You can buy it unlocked and ready to rock with any tuner how uses HPT.

IIRC nGuage runs $450 for one, $350 if ordering 3, $250 if ordering 5 or more.

It is my understanding that the ngauge parameters of the tune cannot be changed. So if I bought larger tires or swapped wheels, I'd need a completely new tune, but on the sct I could go in and change it myself. Can someone confirm this?

The Ngauge can data log without a laptop which is nice as well. If I were to do it over again I would buy the ngauge.
The SCT X4 can data log without a laptop to.

I think it only captures certain parameters as well.
The SCT has a number of canned data log formats. If you use the SCT software to build a format yourself there were about 50 parameters you can log. When I got my tune from Unleashed Torrie sent me a log format for what he wanted to see and I loaded that on the X4.

Didn't like the display or the lack of crank relearn of the ngauge, but it is a good compact size. SCT is a bit more difficult to datalog but it works great.

FALSE.... only a whipple flare tool can change that or now you can modify " as built" data with a obd setup..

Nguage...... SCT X4....... or any other tuner can NOT change tire size.

thats confirmed? just cuz a device says it can doesnt mean it actually does it? that would be great info for the future.... give people who want a tune and be able to switch tire sizes the ability to in one device.

Not sure as far as whether you can do it with a Lund or Bama tune etc, but I have an intune from my challenger rt and I changed the tire size on my tune multiple times.

The big colorful display on the sct x4 is awesome. You can display up to 8 parameters when data logging through the devices screen if i remember right. I uploded my Lund FF tune last week via sct x4 and thanks for the teambeefcake for the quick delivery. Tuning took about 6 minutes including saving the stock tune. It comes with crank relearn function and other goodies. You can load any kind of tune in there if you want to lets say switch in the future. Thats always a plus. N gauge would be cool if you want to sacrifice one vent and do a permanent mount. It doesnt take so much space looks like.

6 mins to upload via the x4???? Try 10-15 plus mins usually.
