I have brand new wheels 19.5 40 offsetwith 5mm spacers all’s round, it’s 35 with spacer
I had my 255/40/19s put on and I didn’t realize it had a gap and isn’t protecting wheels, the charts said 255 is fine on a 9.5 but guess not for me

posting pics. I called discount tire and they said a 275 / 40 /19 will fit on my 19.5 with 35 offset all around

will this cause a ton of poke before I order or will itlook good?
Just upsetting a know? I just paid $$ for those rubber 4 months ago or so

will 275/40/19 on 19.5 with35 offset all around cause any issues or look good or dumb. I’m getting new lugs tomorrow too. These are temorary

also, they quoted me 1167 for 275/40/19 in continental dws06 squared and installed and w warranty. They aren’t charging me labor if I get them.

should I look at 30 or 35, I read people online do it. Let me know best option to make wheels work

Just what size are those new wheels of yours? All of the common wheel sizes for cars these days are in "whole inches".

255/40-19 is tire industry OK'ed for fitment to wheel widths anywhere from 8.5" up to 10" wide, inclusive. That says nothing about either subjective appearance or ability to protect the wheel from curb rash. On 9.5" wide wheels, a 255/40 tire will measure about 260 mm wide at the widest portion of the sidewall. A 9.5" wheel actually measures about 10.5" outside to outside (or ~267 mm). Those are approximate width numbers; actual tire widths and profile ratios vary slightly from the nominal size numbering.

275/40 would be a better fit as far as providing rim protection goes, although you'd probably sacrifice some turn-in (steering) response.

I don’t race or anything. I just daily it for summer

I just ordered 275/40/19 in dws06 at discount tire, they said we can mount on and make sure it works, if same issue we will figure it out

they are 19.5 wide, 40 offset rf2 Rohana

but I got 5mm spacer all way around.

275/40/19 on 19.5 with 35 offset (spacer factored) will I have any rubbing or turning or any issues what so ever?

Its your wheels, they have unusually large rim on the wheel face. You need a tire with a large rim protector and even then, IDK if it will come out past the wheel. A +20 wider tire may only be a few mm wider where the wheel face ends (because they all seat to the same bead location on the wheel).

IIRC MP4S have a larger than usual wheel protector. I don’t know how much wider it is than the tires you have tho.

if you do change tires, consider goong to a 285/35R19 instead of a 275/40

Sorry but your wheels are 9.5 inches wide not 19.5. I dont know what set up you had before but my PP1 rims are 9.5 wide and the tire is 275. Now the fronts are 9 wide with a 255 tire. The tire shops I gone to have always made me aware that there wont be a edge protection if I go with a less wide tire

Will 275/40/19 on 9.5 offer rim protection? Or should I go 285/35/19

be in mind shop ordered dsw06 in 275/40/19 all around for me we will test fit, if that doesn’t work should I suggest the 285/35/19?

You're at least going to have to lay a straightedge across those spokes and measure how much space exists between the straightedge and both the tire sidewall and rim protection rub strip.

1603635543607.png

Ideally, you'd pull the wheel & tire and make the same measurement on the back side as well, and measure the overall width of just the wheel (including the extra spoke width).

I think your current tires measure 10.4" wide as mounted, or about 265 mm (in the future, please provide tire mfr & model information, as chasing this information down was a PITA with Pirelli calling so many different tires "Cinturato P7"). A 275/xx tire on 9.5" wide wheels is only going to buy you around 10 mm more section width (5 mm wider on the outside and 5 mm wider on the inside). Probably less than that at the rub strip. A 285/xx tire on 9.5" should get you about 20 mm more section width (10 mm more inside than now, 10 mm more outside). But just based on your pictures, I can't give you any confidence that even a 285 wide tire is going to give those wheel spokes enough protection. And a 295/xx tire needs to be on wheels at least 10" wide.

holy crap that’s annoying and I appreciate all the help. I will go out now and get some photos. I’m thinking I’m going to go 285/35/19 just because it’s that much more protection, as my wheels are weird as fuck.

will get pics

No, yes it will but in the rear it could poke but you said you added a spacer so if you remove it you should be at 40 offset so you should be good

Will that make the front stick out further than rear? I have to have 5mm in front, or else will hits caliper

So rear 40 offset
Front offset 35

Tires all 275/40/19 or 285/35/19 would the fronts be further out than rear? I thought there was only 3mm difference from front back
Took photos

is this an accurate representation of how far out it will become? 20mm I think means each side goes out 10mm more right? So I cut an ear plug into I think .4 of an inch and put beside the lip.

The 10 mm section width gain is going to come in at about mid-sidewall height. At the rub strip, the added tire width will likely be less (because it's more closely defined by the flange's inside surface which isn't changing). I don't know how much you might gain, but I wouldn't expect a lot.
