So this TSB sounds like a diffetent noise than the typewriter tick (aka BBQ tick) and the 2000 RPM rattle - ?? So now there's a 3rd kind of noise from the Gen3 Coyote?

The TSB has links to videos, but the don't work. Would be interesting to hear those.

TSB is More of the same...
The PRM range has changed .. now included idle on up....
Looks like 19’s are just as susceptible

I believe the typewriter tick TSB already includes the Gen3 Coyote, so why is Ford putting out a new TSB unless this noise is something different than the typewriter tick or 2K rattle.

POOOOOF, the tick was gone. I drove around, for roughly 50 miles and kept checking the sounds coming from the engine at idle when I would stop. I made sure to stress the system, turning the A/C on and off and to my amazement, there was NO TICK! Also, the engine sounds a little smoother now, although that could just be the placebo effect mixed with the lack of tick sound.
Safe to say jury is still out.....

Ford should just put a TSB out that says as long as the engine still runs/rotates, no matter how shitty it sounds, its all normal. :fingerscrossed:

LOL

I know the sound they're talking about. It's the HP fuel pump at idle. It sounds like an engine/rod knock at idle. Clack clack clack clack! F'ing noisy bastard.

That whole system is what's responsible for the 2k rattle as well.

Now, the typewriter tick? We can all debate about that until we're blue in the face.

Agree. The last one said it occurs after an oil change. Many, including myself had the feature appear within weeks of driving the car off the lot.

I just hit 5,000 miles, so taking it in for it’s first oil change. Although mine burned 3 qts in first 3500 miles. I’m the last 1500 burned only 3/4 of a quart. I’ve not put anything in mine other than The motocraft 5w20 synthetic blend as it burned through it.

Just posted how normal my typewriter is, so I have a record before the oil change. Although within this new bulletin, they can now say it’s normal as the oil change is not mentioned.

Good god, man that is just freaking horrible sounding. Normal or not, I understand why you’d be upset driving around with that going on.

Sorry man, good luck. Try Ceratec et al.

Actually Ford did the oil change and confirmed these sounds are perfectly normal characteristics of the engine. They printed off all the notes saying it’s normal and nothing to worry about. They even claimed it sounded the same as other mustangs they have on the lot.....What a joke.

After the oil change the tick was more frequent, but a lighter tick. Before it was a lot more heavy sounding, and after much more high pitch. Hard to explain, but then again, it’s normal so guess everyone’s sounds like this.

My engine does not knock like that. It clicks, squeaks, chirps and clatters, and the transmission whines and shudders and bangs and jerks. The interior rattles, and the rear end groans and grumbles, but there is no tick. The power driver seat makes a long farting noise like a bass kazoo and it’s not coming from me I promise.

But I love it.

LOL I do run a pint of ceratec and 10w30, however. I know what the TSBs say, but still. I think maybe it would be OK if you try to experiment with some oil additives at this point, because I know they say it’s normal but it’s really annoying and I understand what you mean.

Otherwise, drive it like you mean it.

And in the first five or 6000 miles, mine also went through probably 2 1/2 or 3 quarts of oil. But now it’s down to zero.

I too was concerned about the oil consumption, but it did stop. I did nothing to baby this car from day one and I got it with 5 miles on it. I didn’t drive it like an idiot either, but I permitted myself to have all the fun with it that I wanted. I think if you wanted to, you could probably cure the tick with an additive. I would see it as a challenge and something that I would definitely fix somehow, ha !

FYI, I saw on Reddit that the typewriter tick is actually Morse code, and the result of Russian cyber spies trying to hack into your personal information via SYNC3.

Everyone with the tick should report it to the FBI. https://www.fbi.gov/investigate/cyber
