Hi all,
I didn't really want to post this up here because I was troubleshooting myself. But I decided now maybe I should seek some advice.
I did Steeda 2pc slotted rotors front&rear and GLOC GS-1 street pads and I am getting some noises. FYI I have the GT base 4 piston calipers up front.
1st, the GLOC pads didn't come with new shims for the front so I reused them. I didn't lube the back the pads or the shims the first time. The OEM shims look in pretty worn shape.
In troubleshooting the noise, this weekend I removed the oem shims, lubed the back of the pads and the caliper contact points, caliper guide pins, anti-rattle clip and re-installed. I also cleaned the caliper a little bit with brake cleaner.
1st - I was hearing a groan noise as I lightly release the pedal from stop or lightly apply as coming to a stop (very very slow speed). After pushing the car hard one day I started to hear some squealing at very low speeds at a certain pad/pedal pressure. Apply more pressure and it goes away. Then I started to hear it slightly when I am not on the brake at all. I know the pads (at least the rears) are supposed to touch the rotors somewhat at all times. I did check when I had the car up that rear wheels seem to move fairly freely, although it does take a bit of a push to move them.
After removing the shims and cleaning/lubricating things my groan noise is pretty much gone, but the squeal remains. Today I started hearing at low speeds when I turn the wheel.
I'm not really sure what I can do differently?
Are some of these noises normal? They are performance street pads and 2 pc rotors.
Just to recap -
1. Squeal at low speeds, either at a certain pedal pressure or with no brake applied at all.
2. Squeal when turning wheel at low speeds.
Zero sound driving at speed and applying brakes. No vibration or pulsating sensation from brake pedal. Car stops very well.
