(2) concerns:
I want a 2021 Mustang GT not a 22 that's down on HP and torque. Which leads to the next concern. I want an automatic. I prefer a 3:55 rear gear but running into 3:15 mostly. What's the downside to a 3:15 ?
Thanks.

I haven't driven an A10, but my WAG is there's not much difference/downside to 3.15s.

After all, we're talking about 10 friggin' gears here. Can't be much of a difference.

The 3.55 gear was a $300 option on mine. (I think it was $300, may have been $350). Mine is manual, not sure how it is for the Autos.

3.15 is standard gear ratio in the gt. Here's my 3.55 option that was $795. I test drove 3.15 geared a10 & my 3.55 a10 car was a bit quicker or snappier feeling.

To answer your questions. The ā€œ10HPā€ loss is a crock. It’s measured at the crank not the wheels. You will never feel it.

The 3.55 will feel better off the line, a little more peppy. The downside is higher revs and slightly decreased fuel mileage. I would have preferred the 3.55 on my 19’ GT/CS A10 but the car I chose had the 3.15’s. Three years in and I’m fine with it.

Unless you find a smokin’ deal on a 21ā€˜ do yourself a favor and get a 22ā€˜.

In a M6 car the 3.55 is cheaper because you start with the 3.31. It’s the same pumpkin as the 3.31. The 3.15 uses a different pumpkin so moving up costs more.

I have a 2020 A10 with 3.15s and I’ve come to see the 3.15s as an actual advantage. The 3.55s should dig harder on a pull theoretically but in real life with stock tires the 3.15s will hook up better and theyā€˜ll hang in gear longer usually requiring one less shift pull for pull.

Honestly, first and second are so low with the A10 it doesn’t much matter. These things pull like a freight train.

BTW, I’m like you on holding out for the 2021. No way I’d personally bite on a 2022. Feel it or not, I’d know it and would constantly think about it. Too old to own something that diminishes the joy.
