Hello everyone, what an excellent forum this is.
I’ve been a truck guy my whole life (in my 50s) and decided I needed a muscle car. I first drove a 2017 Camaro and quickly learned I just don’t fit due to my 6’ height which is crazy since that isn’t that tall.
Next drove a 2017 GT and instantly was a fan. Also did something crazy for me, decided to get a convertible. Two months with it and have zero regrets with my 2017 GT Convertible automatic.
Now to the point of my thread: I’ve always purchased my vehicles brand new, pay for them over 5 years and then get at least 5more years out of them for a total of at least 10years ownership. The GT convertibles I was looking at were in the $48,000 range, more than I wanted to spend. Then I learned about Ford’s Certified Pre Owned program (CPO).
CPO I thought was a fancy way to say”used car”, which is partially true, but with the fantastic CPO warranty which is free, (7yr, 100,000 miles) I figured i’d take a chance. The CPO search is far harder than a new car search though, a lot less CPOs out there in the configuration you want. CPOs seem to come in two flavors, 3 year old lease returns and 1year old rentals. I bought a former rental (cringe), but in the two months I’ve had it, zero serious issues.
Bottom line: Check out CPOs.
