Happy Labor Day all!

Just yesterday my dream of owning a GT350 came true and I am over the moon to say the least.
It has been a LONG journey and quite honestly I didn't think it would happen but the car was always on my mind.
Timing and luck all came together and I finally got it!!
I am sure everyone already knows about GT350 so I will save my impressions but the car feels a lot smoother and "quieter" than I expected. Pretty much all YT reviewers were saying "oh it's so loud with valves open" but I thought it was rather quiet and could do 4 hours of highway driving with valves open.
When I got home, I went straight to a local Ford dealership to get oil change done, $195 charge which wasn't bad considering how expensive oil and filter are.

So onto my questions as I get to know the GT350
1. Has anyone noticed the hood flutters at speed? Maybe it's due to the single center latch design but I noticed floppy hood at times.
2. The hood seems quite heavy for an aluminum piece? I had a E90 M3 and that hood felt whole lot lighter. Google search says our hood is 20lbs, but it doesn't feel like it.
3. My shift indicator comes on way too early. It was initially at 3000, so I bumped it up to 8000, but it still comes on way too early, like starting at 2000 rpm. Changing drive modes doesn't seem to fix it. Please see pictures.

I'm glad it's a long weekend. Time to voodoo!

First off, congrats! The hood compared to your Bmw is much wider and much longer then that car.
It just may be your use to a car with an overall smaller footprint and that’s the difference your feeling. The hoods do flutter at speed. I don’t really notice it till well over triple digits. I think it’s simply a condition of the material used. I’ve got nothing on the shift light, never messed with it. Lol

Just FYI if you are in 6th on the highway the valves close even if the switch is set to open. Keeps the cruise quiet and drone free. If you want to cruise with the valves open, keep it in 5th.

As far as the shift indicator goes, the number of lights increases with RPM. So even if you are at low RPM you will see 3 or 4 lights.

Have fun voodooing; just maybe keep the TC on for now

Congratulations and welcome.
Ya the hood feels heavier than 20lbs. If that number is correct I’d be very surprised.
I have my shift light set at 7500 if I remember correctly. If you are set at 8K the lights should start to show around 6K but don’t hold me to it. Your lights coming on that early is strange.
BTW….You may want to list the year of your amazing car in your signature.
What part of California are you in? I’m in Bakersfield.

The lights shown are not the shift light, those are only an indication of where you are in the rev band. They will go red at the top of the band and the buzzer will sound if turned on. RPMs come quick so I have mine set at 8k.

Thanks! Absolute beast of a car and stunning thing to look at! Other cars will just scream "not fair" lol. At least it doesn't sound like I am getting weaker, so that's good haha. When I lifted the hood I was like "no way this is 20lbs"

When I read this a flush quickly came over me.

Thought I had another two-day blackout.
Oh you don't know how much I've been browsing CJ pony. My wife will have some surprises next week as I already placed 4 different orders lol. Speaking of, are there any other good vendors you can recommend for parts and maintenance items and such?

Oh ic. That must be why it was pretty quiet, but still got some power in 6th that I didn't need to downshift much. For now sport is where I will stay at :captain:

Hmm interesting. Thanks for the info. I will lower the indicator and test it out. I haven't rev'ed it past 6k yet. It's just way too much rev to get used to lol.

Thanks man! I love everything about the car. It's just so special all around and my son calls it "race car" lol Hope to pass it down to him and along the way, make lots of memories with him.
I am from LA! You must be a regular at Willow Springs! Used to track E86 there, loved the track but not the drive there and back lol.
It's a 2020 HE. I just lucked out to get my dream spec and to top of to meet such an awesome seller and person.

Get the resonators deleted like the Rs. It will make a huge difference. “Loud” is subjective so I’m not sure what you were used to or expecting, but I would start there. Congratulations on the purchase!

Congrats! As was noted, hood flutter, should you experience it, normally comes at about 100mph. Never experienced in my first car. Happened in current car at somewhere upwards of 90mph, as best I could tell. Extremely easy to fix by adjusting the hood bump stops. Non-scientific. I was concerned about over-compensating, so I was conservative with adjustments. Make a run, turn the stops, make a run, turn the stops. Eventually, you'll be there.

I forgot to mention I highly recommend getting the extended warranty. Ford ESP. AC condensers going out is a known issue. Also you want to cover your butt on the motor side as well. I paid $1500 for 7 years bumper to bumper via Flood Ford

Yep, the hoods tend to flutter a bit on these at higher speeds. It's a bit unnerving sometimes but normal.

Try changing your shift light to "track" mode. That will be the one where the LEDs start at the outside edges and work their way toward the middle. The mode you're using is a bit busy, and (for me at least) it's hard to tell where redline is. It's not a drive mode change, it's a feature specific to the light. You'll find it next to the redline selection in the options.

OP, Congratulations on the Shelby! I just moved on from an e92 M3 to the GT350 a few months back. A lot of similarities but many differences too.

Once I found out about the track setting for the shift lights, it is what I use. I much prefer it to the other setting.
