I would like to keep the VCT as I’ve read that specific technology is what allows the Coyote to produce the hp/tq it does given its displacement. What kills the valve train, rpms only? Like if I used upgraded valve train components and put the rev limiter at 8000 or so, would it survive? The of the shelves comp stage 2s state rpm range goes up to 7500rpm, so I assume that is a usable range limit, not a physical limit in the cams surviving. Though I could be wrong. If I’m going all the way I would do upgrades springs, gt350 secondaries?
I’m not looking for a drag car. I’m looking for usable street manners and ability to survive longer durations in the upper rpm range on a road course.
Thank you!
Either do a built rpg stroker shortblock (I think 5.6L)

Get a 5.2 block and use coyote crank and put the gen3 heads on

Or spend an insane amount of money and get the mmr tall deck.

If you are wanting a street car then keep the vct. Find a custom cam grinder to get you the most aggressive cams that will work with the vct. Get valve springs. Get a ported cobra jet intake. Get the lightweight mmr vct cover plates. Upgrade the tensioners to the boss 302 tensioners. Upgrade the timing chains. Get billet timing chain tensioners and get MMRs tensioner inverter. Use lightweight pistons and rods. Get oil pump gears and cranksprocket. Get either the gt350 oil pan or gt500 oil pan (prevent oil starving on track). Do long tube headers and a full exhaust.

I think you can also use the gt500 oil pump gears which I think are better.

Rev the car to 8,500 and enjoy.

Edit: Port the gen3 heads. Also bump compression up if you have good gas. You may be able to make good power with 13:1 and 93 since you have direct injection. If you have e85 feel free to go higher.

That’s very helpful thank you. I did see that the gt500 opg was a different part number than the GT’s. If it’s good enough for that car a n/a car shouldn’t grenade it.

There is a PN for the kit with the oil pan and pickup. The Gen 3 pump only needs OPG to be a bit more bulletproof.
