Hey all I'm new to the Mustang and the new Coyote 5.0. Not new to changing my own oil and I will continue with my '15 GT.

Currently what is the oil brand/type/weight/viscosity used in the Coyote? Synthetic I assume as well? What type of mileage are you all going between oil changes and what does Ford recommend for oil life mileage for regular and "heavy" duty cycles?

Thanks for your thoughts. :)

Motorcraft Synthetic blend 5w-20. 10,000 mile rated interval(IIRC), I use 5,000 miles personally. There is an onboard oil life monitor but it is basically a timer based on time/mileage.

I use either Mobil 1 formula M or Pennzoil Ultra/Platinum.

I ran Motorcraft synthetic blend the entire time I owned my 2011 and had many track days and aggressive mountain runs. Sent a sample into blackstone labs and she was extremely healthy so Ill stick with the Motorcraft this time as well.

Thank you. Would you recommend going FULL synthetic? How many quarts as well? I will probably split the difference, 7500 miles but I always keep a close eye on the color of the oil and if it looks dirty I change earlier. I never go by the oil change monitors, they extend it out too far for my comfort.

Thank you. I'll ask you the same as above. I also wonder if they have kept the same filter or not.

What do both of you recommend on brand of filters?

Calls for 5w-20. I use Mobil 1 and motor craft filter.

Mileage counter is also calculated using engine load. Mine would get almost 10k miles before blower and now only goes about 6500 or so after. I just go with it.

Motorcraft or Wix filters. 8qts of oil(for '11-14 Coyotes), probably 8.5qts for the 2015 due to the oil cooler. I use full synthetic because I want the best I can get and I work at a Mercedes dealership with abundant supply of Mobil 1 and Pennzoil full synthetic oil.

Thanks for the advice to all. I may go with Motorcraft and full synthetic (probably Mobil as I use theirs in my other vehicles) I appreciate your thoughts. :)

One of the reasons I want to go full synthetic and push the mileage to 7500 miles between changes, possibly up to 9K miles, but no more than that. I'm doing the same thing on our G8 GT right now. Less changes but more costly at the change.

Just looked Mobil 1 full synthetic is about $23 bucks at WM for 5 quarts. Two of those = about $50 after tax plus the filter (are Motorcraft about $5??? I don't know) So I figure about a $60 oil change done by myself. I'm averaging about 8K miles on my GTO so I'm looking at basically one oil change a year (maybe 2 if I drive it a lot). Not bad at all really.

Agreed, this thing takes more oil than my car and motorcycle combined haha, but then again it has almost twice the CC's of both my car and bike :D

Does anyone know the current size Motocraft filter on the 5.0?

What do you think, will it stay the same or change?

Can you do us a favor and post your observations on the MB CLA250 after it's been out a while? Curious if it's going to have issues mechanically.
