Just got the car back from a ford dealer for a coolant leak and this appears when in reverse on the back up camera display and there is a solid audible tone, then the tone stops upon switching to Park. i have never seen this before.

P.S. the dealer overfilled the coolant reservoir by a full pint

If there’s nothing near that left rear sensor, it may be faulty.

i would not be surprised if the dealer tampered with it. i will take a look under there later this morning.

That is indicating there is something (an object) at the left rear corner of the vehicle and the tone is the warning not to run over it. Either the sensor is faulty, unplugged or has something covering it. I had that a lot in the winter time on my F150 when it would get frosty/snowy bits that covered the sensor, but never seen it on the Mustang since the sensor is behind the bumper.. Perhaps a look see in that area, there might be something obvious going on...

Interesting. Is it possible the SYNC experienced a feature upgrade while at the dealership?

Keep car on, but not running (acc mode). Engage P brake. Put car in R. Put your ear next to sensor. If a clicking is heard, sensor is functioning fine. If it isn't, then it's not connected, or it's failed.
