In order for a nameplate to gain notoriety, it usually needs to be a great car first, then the name rings a bell. That said, and now that we realize that, what should Ford do here?
Do they reach back into the bag and use "SVO"? SVO stood for Special Vehicle Operations and was changed to SVE then SVT. I personally want to streamline the nameplates and I don't think "SVO" is a good choice.
Do they follow the One-Ford philosophy and use the "ST"? ST is an actual class name in USCC (Grand Am) where Focus/Fiesta sized cars race. It means "Street Tuner" and is heavily Turbo based. I personally think "ST" has a nice ring to it.
The Eco4 could be called the ST4 and a future Eco3.5 could carry the ST6 badge. Not just "ST" like the other Fords but ST4 and ST6.
RS (usually meaning Rally Sport) was another suggestion BUT, it is more of a European name for Ford. RS is also the Euro version of SVT. Maybe call them ST4/ST6 in the US and an RS4 and RS6 is EU.
Should Ford keep the Eco4 and V6/Eco6 simple? Mustang 4G and 6G? Or how about ST4 for the EB2.3, 6G for the N/A 3.7 and ST6 for the Eco3.5 if there ever is one? Even room for a mighty Mustang 4G someday when we have a 3000lbs base car.
What about elevating ALL Ecoboost Mustang's to a GT status like the Fox did?
