Bmac, what do you think, is the GT500 showing up this weekend?
Getting harder to determine as people go into lockdown these days. I'm guessing not.

If they are able to sneak it in tomorrow I would say the "lockdown" was of epic proportions!!! Almost impossible at this point! Here's hoping against hope!!

So, let me get this straight. Ford shrouded in a big black cover the whole booth to conceal...wait for it.. the Bullitt(which everyone already knew about) and a ST SUV!?!?!?! WTF! Could that really be it.? Just a tad underwhelming don't you think?
Yes
NOT everyone knows about it--just a few Yahoos (us) on the internet and then only by leaks etc NO official confirmation.

Ford was up to something in Chicago--probably a short video or photo shots for the unveiling.... those in the media program for the Bullitt have time and energy in it...just because of a leak they are not going to throw in the towel and give up. Corporate mindsets and programs do not work that way.:gossip:

The Bullitt will be a Charity car at Barrett Jackson...when the original charity was disclosed by BJ (and hinted at the car) Ford got them to pull it back (Charity language)...so yeah Ford is taking the unveil seriously.

NO -- the GT500 will NOT be showing up in Detroit --damn get over that idea.:headbonk:

They are not going to display both (Bullitt and GT500) and split the media attention.... anyone find a listing for the GT500 (or a placeholder car) for Barrett Jackson? They would not reveal both and then only sell off one (the 'lesser' model- debatable among some) at Barrett Jackson.

All comes to he who waits...and waits....and waits....

AND I could be 100% totally wrong.....

When I watch the video I was thinking the same thing!! So they’re going to go through all of that secrecy to hide a lightly upgraded SUV and A glorified Mustang GT that we’ve basically already seen and known about. Doesn’t add up to me. Did you notice I asked Bmac Directly if he thought it would debut this weekend, and he didn’t reply!
Yeah based on past Bullitts it might be mostly appearance with a 15-40 HP bump over the Mustang GT from an intake or tuning tweak. I'd love to see it get an NA 5.2 CPC motor, but I don't think Ford is ready to use the 5.2 NA engine in anything but the GT350 at this time. I can see why a dual injected NA 5.2 V8 in a less expensive Mustang could upset some GT350 owners. It could probably come uncomfortably close to the Voodoo. I would think if Ford uses an NA 5.2 it would be in the next Mustang redesign - whatever/whenever that might be.

Unless the opening of the Bullitt order banks mid March turns out to make it a 2019 model afterall, Ford introduces the GT500 in Chicago next month as a 2019 as well and cancels the GT350 for 2019.

But that is just unbased speculation on my part. I for one hope it's a regular 5.0.

I don't see how the ST and RS focus are designated different vehicles, i dont read up on them, does one carry a different engine that the other? ranger raptor would be one, not regular ranger.
FWD vs AWD

2.0 252hp vs 2.3 350hp

They do share a lot, like the body and transmission.

The RS has bigger brakes, dual mode suspension and is significantly more focused (heh).

Seriously doubt they'll kill the Fusion. They still sell extremely well. They canceled the next gen refresh...very different from killing it entirely.
After 2020 there's nowhere to build it. They're moving Fusion production to China and Ford has officially said they won't import Chinese-built Fusions to America. So unless they quickly find a place to build the NA Fusion by 2020, by Ford's own admission the car will cease to be offered in America.

Ford is most likely killing the Fusion in 2020. I think the Bullitt will be considered a Ford Performance product, but we'll see. Also, there's gotta be at least 1 F-150 variant in there, with rumors of a Raptor V8 and also the idea of a new Lightning being tossed around in the rumor mill from time to time.

They are not moving the production to China since China already build Fusions (Mondeos).

Not gonna lie, I actually really like the Edge ST. I'll be moving in a year or so and my commute to work will get a bit longer. Will beat out fueling the raptor constantly. I really like that blue. MT article says it will be available.

ETA: I do feel the ST line should be manuals only. They should come up with some other name or modify this name for the SUV line up as I am sure this is just the beginning

Where is the Taurus built? that is due to be killed soon. Maybe that plant will be retooled?

Chicago builds Taurus and Explorer. Wonder if that changes when Explorer switches platforms soon.

They already officially announced that they are. Mondeos are currently built in Spain according to this article:
http://www.autonews.com/article/201...-ford-would-be-comfortable-killing-the-fusion
Right now the Fusion/Mondeo is built in four locations worldwide;
Hermosillo, Mexico.
Valencia, Spain.
(As you already know about this two)

And also:
Chonqing, China.
https://corporate.ford.com/company/plant-detail-pages/changan-ford-automobile.html
St Petersburg, Russia.
https://corporate.ford.com/content/...ord-sollers-st-petersburg-assembly-plant.html

It’s possible that Ford MAY stop the production of the Fusion/Mondeo in Mexico and Spain, however THEY ARE NOT moving the production elsewhere, they will only continue with two (Russia and China) assembly plants or just one (China) with the same production since Ford North America has no intentions on bringing the Chinese Mondeo (which let me tell you have a flawless assembly quality) to America; if the North American production stops the car will simply disappear from the Ford NA Lineup.

According to BmacIL the next Gen Explorer will be built under the Rear Wheel Drive CD6 Platform, so Chicago will indeed be retooled for the new Explorer.
