My car has 200 miles on it and I am trying to decide to either build it n/a for now or just go ahead and add boost. Currently the car has Headers, Catback, cai, springs, mgw and a few other mods.

All the n/a threads I have found are just intake mani and TB but is that it? Any good threads on making power n/a or should I just order a vmp gen 3 and fuel system?

I mean you can get a GT350 intake (or one of the others), and cams, but at that point I'd just boost it and get a lot more power. I'd only stay N/A if you planned to track it on road courses. Even the best N/A builds I've seen with cams, etc. are about 500whp vs. 650+ for boosted cars.

It all depends on how you look at it and what you want. Some time back, I was at the spot where I had a GT350 IM, Steeda CAI, headers, full exhaust, a Lund 93 tune and wanted to go with more. After doing some homework looking into cams and other items, IN MY OPINION the dollar spent for horsepower gained, it just wasn't worth it staying N/A. I'M NOT SAYING THAT STAYING N/A IS A BAD THING, nothing wrong with it at all. I knew I wanted more power so I bought my first ever supercharger and for me, that was the right decision for the money spent. I don't knock on guys who decide otherwise, it's their car and they roll how they want. It's all good.

Thanks guys,

Yeah see that's what I don't want to do 'Buy an IM and TB' then go boost and lose that money. I just got finished building my gt500 so I have been the FI route for a while now. Just wanted to know what these engines were capable of n/a.

Yep. All I did was sell the IM. (Which sold pretty quick). I was using the stock 80mm TB.

It's NEVER more cost effective to go NA versus FI with these cars.

However, as a former extracurricular engine builder, I love a stout, dialed-in, OCD, NA build.

I've really pondered twin-turboing my car lately, but I've also pondered building what amounts to a 5.2 Aluminator XS myself. I know the power/dollar isn't there, but....

If money wasnt an issue Ive dreamed of a fullretard mmr genX big cube NA engine with ported GT350 heads, big cams, 13:1 on E85 with ITBs and spin it to 9k rpm.

It would sound like an eargasm LOL

Go with a positive displacement (roots type) blower from VMP, Roush, Ford Performance, Whipple, or Magnuson, etcetera, AND have it tuned to run on E85.

You'll have all the power PLUS a huge torque increase, it will be easier to do, and easier to tune and be more satisfying as well.

Comparing cost vs hp on NA vs FI is freaking pointless i dont know why people do it every single NA thread.

Go join the All Motor Coyote group on Facebook and spend some time there. Then you can make a more informed decision.
