My best friend drove his '65 to work today. Just so happens it used to be mine back in high school. (Back before he restored it and put a Ford 6.8L V-10 in it.) I love having them side by side and seeing the changes over the last 54 years. The Mustang has really "grown" a lot.

Can you get a sound clip of that V-10? I don't think I've ever heard one.

Here's a WOT pull on the dyno when it was being tuned. Pull starts at about 0:14.

If you do a google search for 1965 Mustang V10 there are a couple more videos and some pics.

Pretty cool! I might be getting a 2V PI head V10 soon for use in a kit car. Hp was certainly lacking from the factory for the size of the engine but as with the 4.6/5.4 2V, small mods should make a big difference in power.

Man that '65 Mustang (and the Bullitt) looks amazing. How many rwhp is that V10 cranking out?

Sorry, but the '65 looks ghetto. Like some juvenile's masturbatory fantasy of what a Mustang should look like.

I'm good with resto-mods, but that one is hideous.

Not a ton of hp, but that torque curve makes it a BLAST to drive. I wish the Coyote 5.0 had more low end end torque like that.

One of my favorite trucks was a F250 Regular Cab V10 manual transmission XL. I had a few hat's embroidered reading "Triton V10, Ford's best kept Secret".

I may still have one laying around if your friend would like one.

He just might. I'll ask him. Post a pic if you find one. How much do you want?

The 65 is so light it has to be fun to drive. I had one in an F450 Rollback with a 6 peed and Flowmaster, and that was fun. Car guys would often ask what I had in it. LOL.

Well to put it into perspective, that car is making the Gen 1 Coyote's peak power at where the Coyote makes peak torque. I think it would be pretty fun. 400 lb ft at 2000 RPM? Yeah that's brutal. However I would also gladly give up a bit of that low end to stretch out the power band and peak power too though. Even another 300 RPM would be pretty compelling.
