My first car was a 1969 Mustang! 302 auto trans :) One of the Guys I worked with was always talking about his opal kadett and how he could take my car. One day I was out just cruising around and we met up at a red light and settled things.

1997 Jeep Cherokee. 4.0/4x4. Might as well have been a space ship, it took me to freedom I never knew at age 15.

It also burned my wallet out and taught me how to turn a wrench to save some money.

Definitely miss it.

Circa 2006 I found a 1986 Cutlass 442 for sale. Owned by a little old lady, car was immaculate only had 42k miles. I had it 6 months and the lady called to see if I still had it and if I was interested in selling it back. Told her no, and not even a week later it was stolen out of my driveway.

87 Nissan truck. 4x4 with a 5 speed manual. I was 16 and drove the crap out of it. I kinda miss that old truck.
That was my first truck. 86 Nissan, Man did I f#$k that truck up. 4 banger with 36 inch swampers. It had a top speed of 65mph and the hum from the tires was enough to drive anyone crazy.

So grandson found out she sold the cream-puff to a stranger and came and jacked it with the extra key set, huh? Damn.

People suck.

Our high-school shop class project car was an 442 Cutlass. Great motor.

I passed my driving test on the 4th July 1988. I may not be American, but I appreciated passing on Independence Day!

This was my first car. A Ford Fiesta with a whopping 957cc (that's about 58 cu in!!). 4 speed manual, 4 seats and a steering wheel..........it was the base model without a radio or even a heated rear window! I painted the lower bits black after patching up the rust holes. I then added the stripes and front fogs. What a machine!

I doubt that was it, the car was found a few days later on the side of 285, just a bare shell.

It was a neat car, I haven’t seen many hard top 442’s, most are t-top cars afaik.

I remember running a set of Radial Mud's on one of my Super Duty trucks years ago. They got really loud after about 10,000 miles...couldn't even hear talking to a passenger.
I can't imagine how loud the swampers would be....

At the end of 2004, this AU Series 3 Fairmont was my first car.

AU-29.jpg

This was November 2001 build with 54,000 km/33,550 miles on it. Painted Barossa Red it was fitted with a 4.0 Inline 6 and 4 speed auto. Over the time I had it, I added a factory rear spoiler, Tickford wheels, a Fairlane chrome exhaust tip and Momo steering wheel and shift selector. The steering wheel was so nice to hold. This car just ate the miles with ease, the seats and ride were very comfortable and the hwy fuel economy was exceptional. And most importantly to a silly 18 year old male, the thing would light up and pull a single peg burnout very easily.

These images were taken in early 2008, just before I sold it. I'm pretty sure it was in better condition when I sold it than when I picked it up.

This model Falcon was reviled for it strange exterior and interior styling, the drooping rear end and domed roof were most hated. I was one of the weird few who actually liked it at the time, and as the years have passed, the styling has aged much better than its main competitor. I also notice a few of the design statements Ford pioneered in 1998 has spread to range of other brands, most notably the original Mercedes-Benz CLS.

Technically my 1st car was 1984 Dodge Daytona, I say technically because it was a shared car with my sister who was a year older than me and the car was purchased when she turned 16. That was truly a beater car, I grew up in the suburbs of Syracuse and the winter had taken it's toll. The car had a rust hole in the passenger side floor board that we "fixed" with cardboard. Which ended up being replaced constantly during winter months.

My 1st car that was not shared was 1976 Ford Mustang II Ghia, it had the V8 with a whopping 134 hp and a 3 speed auto. I use to joke it was a great car IF it started.
