There are a lot of die hard fan boys for the Gen 3 Coyote, but here is just another example of it being sub par to Gen 1/2 Gen Coyote engines.Very SAD, Ford really dropped the ball on this engine.
GEN1 Coyotes were eating #8 cylinders by the dozens. GEN2 Coyotes also get ticking and need replacement.

Sorry to hear about your Coyote..... I hope you can manage driving that yellow POS for now. That's worse than having to drive a rental Toyota Yaris!

OMG what a gorgeous car! I love those AMG coupes! Any idea what let go in the motor?

yes thats on my mind - which is why I'.m wondering do I need to warm up motor more than I have been - I always drive slowly until temp comes up etc. What can I do different to avoid a repeat?
Nah nothing you did wrong. If we have to warm the motors up a few minutes to keep the parts from spraying all over the road we all have bigger problems LOL.

So I’m guessing you’re in no rush to get your Mustang back . And by the way, what kind of Ford dealer has AMG’s as loaners?
Nah its my son's car just bought for him. I will have to send it to Sydney at some point in the future but i've got it for a month or so. It is a beast. Absolutely mind blowing acceleration. Bi turbo V8........

It's not the ticking that's the problem. It's the knocking and yes it seems to happen on Gen 2 and Gen 3s. But man Gen 3s seem to have it bad. lol

Ford gave me a new Mitsubushi Outlander. I have to say it is quite a decent car. doesnt match the Mustang or my wifes Lexus but quite bearable. I'm quite impressed they are looking after me. I do control a number of fleet purchases and i have bought about 10 cars from them so they they should look after me. I hope thought that they would do the same for anyone who has bought a new car which has died so soon after purchase.

Oops my bad I did read you said that yesterday when I first read the thread...... Did you hear any of the Coyote oddball sounds like the tick or rattle at 2k before this occurred?

Mine has the rattle many describe. .... mind you theres not much I can do about it other than get it noted at my first oil change. As to them taking care of you well they bloody well should. I assume the car was not modded so its a failure that was not of your doing.

But hey better to get the weak links out early and no doubt the car will get a new motor and run like a champ. Best of luck to you and your son!

That only happened with the EARLY tuners on # 8 cylinders, was NOT a Ford defect like the Gen 3 Coyote, very poor design right from the factory.

The #8 cylinder munchings were also attributable to Ford not running a coolant line between the cylinders at the back of the engine.
